The CDN Lotto 649 has set all-time record for any Canadian lottery at $54.3 million for the Oct 26, 2005 draw. There was one winning ticket. The previous record was $37.8 million for Super 7 on May 17, 2002.

It's probably too late to join existing pools for tonight's $40 million draw, but there is still a 6% chance that the jackpot will roll over again for Saturday. In that event, how do we go about settting up a pool? My idea is that if we get enough players, then we can buy a bunch of 8-number combination plays. I am in on a couple of pools. By Wednesday, the total ticket value of our pools will be well over $1,000.I would be interested in joining one or more of your pools.

I found out that the cap rule does not apply to this $40 million jackpot. Therefore the lower tier prizes will be of average size.I also found out that the $40 million jackpot is not a bonus jackpot and therefore not guaranteed to be $40 million. The jackpot level will end up being whatever sales supports. But based upon sales for the previous draw, I estimate that the $40 million level will be exceeded by 2 to 3 million.

Jake649, do you have a lottery pool set up? I have started a $140 pool with a few friends, but I am thinking of merging with other pools or helping organize a bigger online pool.

The CDN Lotto 649 has surpassed their previous jackpot record and has set all-time record for any Canadian lottery at $40 million. The previous record was $37.8 million for Super 7 on May 17, 2002.Since the jackpot level is now supported by sales and no longer considered a bonus, I will check with lottery officials to see if the $25 million cap rule applies.

They have a 30 million cap rule. Glad to see stupidity isn't limited just to MUSL. On a plus side the Canadians are smart enough to give their prizes in tax-free cash. Smarter than the US in that regard.

Wow, I hope someone does win in Canada 6/49 tonight. How come payouts are bigger for lower tier prizes without bonus when it reaches 25 million? How come Canada's lotto must have a cap

The Canadian Lotto 649 set a new record for the Oct 22 draw. The $30 million bonus jackpot is the largest ever.The previous record was $29,140,524 set on Aug 7, 2004. Interesting to note that the previous record was set after the current cap rule was invoked. When the jackpot reaches $25 million, then a larger percentage of the money goes towards lower tier prizes and away from the jackpot. On the Aug 7, 2005 draw a match 4 paid $217.
