I also felt it was kinda of strange that the numbers were sequentual. Then again, if it was like the old raffles, you'd get the next number off the ticket roll. I would have preferred it to be random assignment.

I ended up getting one. took that ticket and $8 in excehange for a PB ticket worth $28. That was the only way I was gonna play, so I will consider it fate.of course since then I have been on a PB losing streak

Ok. After thinking about it, here is what PA should have done for their raffle. They should not have sold the tickets in numerical order. Instead they should have jumbled them all up, and just had the computer record when a number was sold. That wouldn't be too hard considering they already keep a record of what ticket numbers were sold already for every other game.

Yeah actually if they would have made it larger, thus the odds lower to win, I may have not played. I was definitely enticed by the 1 in 125,000 odds. 1 in 500,000 whatever, either way I would be happy with a cool million. ($700,000 after all taxes?) I will stick to powerball for higher jackpots, and low odds. I would rather a few more games with lower prizes ($1 million minimum) and better odds to win it. I think it is amazing that they sold out - especially after the complaining I saw on the early posts. I initially thought a chance at a million for twenty was worth a shot, then decided to go for two shots. I had a lucky feeling that day. Bought advance for PB and the last draw date will be my birthdate. 2005 has a chance to be a very good year.

Doc- I agree that the prize payout would have grown tremedously. According to the website though- it was established that 500,000 was the limit. Once the rules are drawn up I dont think they are allowed to do an about face and change them after the tickets go on sale. Be it for the grandprize or the way they devy out the prize pool. Part of the enticement was the *odds* factor. Increasing tickets at this point would lower the odds... (PS- glad you bought a ticket!!May it be one of the winners!).... [ More ]

Just throwing this out there. PA could have sold 10 million tickets for this drawing and made the top prize much bigge. Think about this. It prints out 8 digits. In theory they could have sold numbers 00000000-99999999, and made the top prizes much bigger. They should have done it like NY did theirs and not put a limit on how many tickets could be sold. That way, the top prize could get huge.

dang! and why couldnt I had a sidebet on when they were to have sold out! I would have won! :) . I was actually going to buy one today when I did a scratch off that paid out $50.00. Nevermind I was able to scrape up the answer after reading all the fine print. I was right. In the Pennsylvania Lottery s Millionaire Raffle drawing however, the ADM will select winning tickets at random from the tickets sold, and not winning numbers. But that would actually reduce the odds. But for some reason I am willing to bet that all those less than 75,000 tickets are as good as bought.

I wonder what happens if all the tickets are not sold? What if they have 50,000 left, would they count? Or would they just pick from the pot of all of those sold, thus lowering the odds drastically? Surely though they will claim that they sold them all, as they already advertising only less than 75,000 left. But how would we really know how many was actually out there? Yeah I have a good feeling about this one. Hopefully one, or better yet all of us can hit at least one of the prizes! I would have gotten a few more tickets, but I wasted far too much money already on powerball and pick 3 and 4's this month. I wanted to wait until just the right time though. Maybe if I get a return on powerball tonight I will get another one. I would love the million, and would even love a thousand. Would be the best return I have got so far.

Funny I went out looking for a ticket, but could not find one. I assumed it must have been a scratch off type found in machines. Finally I asked about them, and if they had the raffle tickets. Honestly the powerball does not return crap for me either. So either way is no loss....or actually is. But a shot at a million ($700,000) is still a shot at a million either way. Maybe if I do actually get a decent return from the PB, I will buy a ticket for the raffle.

First off, I think that any $20 ticket that does not guarentee you a prize is not worth playing at all.Second, PA is holding a $20 raffle for a $1 million top prize. Just wanted to update that tickets are selling well for this raffle. There are supposed only 200,000 left! And this is only after one week of opening sales.Thus far I have three of the tickets. 1 in 980? that's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay so not worth it for 20 bucks. imagine buying 5 tickets at $100 and getting nothing. when you could have spent however many bucks on a couple scratchers, the pick 3, the pick 4, and (if you know what you're doing and you have the mojo that week intuition wise) gotten a lot more bang for your buck. not to mention had money for groceries, a couple gallons of gas and a book and a movie or two.
