CA paid only $117 for a match 4 and $3,004 for a match 4+Mega on the Dec 6 draw. This is the lowest amount ever paid in CA for a match 4 and a match 4+Mega. 5 of the 6 numbers, including the Mega ball, were birthday numbers. The previous record lows were $119 and $4,087 both set in the same draw on Sept 27, 2005.Also, I notice that when the match 5 is not won in CA, the size of the match 5 prize is not reported. They used to report the amount that would have been won.

CA's payouts are weird.....last drawing the 5+0 prize was listed as $250,000 and now for this drawing it was only $310,000. A sixty thousand dollar increase isn't that much for over $3 million in ticket sales.Brad

$24,000!!? LUCKY!! I wonder if we will ever see a MM drawing where CA gets NO match 4+1 winners. Then it would be really interesting to see how much the CA match 4+1 winners would get the following drawing.

Look what CA payed out to two people who matched four and the mega ball in this past drawing...over $24,000.CA sales are actually now higher than New York's are. I think CA has gotten into it after this really large jackpot we just had.Brad

Do you think that CA is going to have mainly a $2 payout if the MB is 28 or higher? I think it depends on all lottery sales and number of winners.

CA paid only $1 for matching only the Mega ball in the recent (Nov 18) Mega Millions draw. Normally the payout is $2. The $1 payout has happened a total of 8 times out of 43 draws. In each case the Mega ball was 11 or below. Interesting to note that 3 out of the 8 times, the Mega ball was 11. This may be a favorite number in CA.A good strategy for CA players is to choose larger numbers for the Mega Ball to get at least a $2 payout.
