They were the only people I told. That is enough to spread the news. If I win, I will never tell my Mom, I love her, but she can not keep a secret. It is too much to put on parents, they would be happy and tell their best friends, in confidence, but that will also tell their best friends, and before you know it, everyone knows. The answer is to keep mu... [ More ]

Is there only a small number of media outlets, AP, UPI, etc., for which the lottery operators can force a winner to submit for interviews? When they won the jackpot, the couple refused dozens of interview requests but told lottery officials they were going separate ways to fulfill lifelong dreams.

Although there are many articles/news items/suggestions on what to do when one wins big.. But there are things which many people ignore. Sure, hiring/consulting a lawyer will help but it will not help to improve ones attitude/behavior which puts one in trouble. What it means is that it will save you from others but not from yourself. Lawyer will help one hide ones dark side but it will drain ones money. So the summary is one needs both a lawyer and ones own attitude to survive in long term.Next... [ More ]

I believe I deserve at least $2.5 million. Also, I have already added an extra $5 million to your supposed winnings, and have told several people already that you have won $15 million. It has already spread around rapidly, and has gotten back to me within minutes. Someone asked me if I heard about that guy who won $50 million dollars from Carters Lake. I said yes, I think so. But I heard it was around $75 million. They said no kidding? $100 million eh? Yup....$120 million. CASH.

It is very hard to keep people from knowing when you win money. I know, this happened to me in 1995. I was on a project in California and won about $500,000. My Dad passed away before I got home but I bought my Mom a house and paid all her bills. They were the only people I told. We live in a small town of about 30,000 people.

I've read many stories about lottery winners who are broke or committed suicide, etc. One site has a long list. These tales are very sad as is the suffering of anyone. But sad stories are part of everyday life and reading about starving children is a heck of a lot more upsetting than hearing about rich people whose lives were destroyed, especially after this year's hurricane season. I believe most people would benefit from winning $65M. If it's too much pressure, then build a couple of homeless... [ More ]
