The Illinois lottery put an ad on a billboard above a poor Chicago neighborhood with the slogan, This could be your way out. What they did not say is that the odds of winning the lottery can be as much as 20 million to one, ridiculously higher than the casino slot machine odds of 20 to one. Who is Tina Gianoulis, what is her expertise about lotteries, and where is she getting her information?According to the North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries, Duane V.

State lotteries didn't invent gambling, they just offered people who would gamble anyway a chance to lose their money to the states. Gambling was never just for the rich, so no one should be surprised that poor people like to gamble too. True the chance to win millions of dollars for a one dollar ticket might be very attractive to the poor, but it's attractive to the rich too.

I agree justexploring, some of us like playing the big jackpots even if the odds are really stacked against us. I think that when it comes to playing the game, you've got to know your limits and how much you can spend without going over your means.

We'd all like that. Unfortunately, there's no lottery game that would produce high enough sales to support such winnings. If the all jackpot games got hit at the starting level every drawing, they'd either go bankrupt or convert to small top cash prize games (such as Iowa's $100,000 cash game) out of fear of going bankrupt.

We all have our vices and toys. Some people smoke, some go to Happy Hour and some of us buy a few lottery tickets every week. I agree it's a problem for a few, but for others it's a chance to beat the odds. I just wish they'd stop creating games with more numbers to get higher jackpots. I'd rather see a winner twice a week win $3 million than one person win $40 million after several rollovers.

Yeah sounds like me, especially a lot in the past before I studied the lottery exclusively. I have wasted more money that I should not have on the powerball alone. Problem being that you get in even more debt, and want to play even more hoping for some kind of return. You just have to bit the bullet, and keep playing over a long period of time, and try not to spend too much. Either that, or don't play and lose all chances of being a millionaire. Personally I cannot afford that.

It is sad to see the money some people spend on the PB and what little or no return they get...It is not usual to see $20 to $200 bucks spend on one draw...I have run lots of five-line tickets from one person to tell them they didn't even have the powerball for $3.

http://www.findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_g1epc/is_tov/ai_2419100738 This could be your way out. Or as in most cases, could be your way back in even deeper debt...
