I have bought whim tickets many times, and have actually gotten good results usually, but no jackpots. I believe it is time I change this trend, and win via using a system, and be rewarded for studying the lottery for years. This would make it more justifiable, and provide more hope to lottery 'players' as opposed to just the occasional 'gambler.

I seem to read that a lot rundown. It seems people who just go into the store to buy some milk or something and then they decide to buy a few tickets on a whim. end up being the ones who win the big jackpots. lol.

LOL! It actually says 2006, it was slightly distorted from shrinking it down. The pic is huge! That way I can see it every morning as soon as I wake up. I made sure it will be an actual powerball date. Thanks though, as long as I get something back I will be happy, especially if I get back more than I spend. I am almost afraid now to deviate from QPs

Thanks. I am also quite partial to this one as well. Shrunk down of course. I will be getting the big version framed on my wall as inspiration, and as a visualizing aid. Although I doubt the jackpot will actually be that amount on Jan 7th. but it would very strange if it was. But I had to put something down! I whipped it up in paint for fun.

The people who actually win it usually play around 5 quick picks, and they play it on a whim. There was someone from Indiana in February 2003 who won the jackpot picking his own numbers, but that's rare.

Thanks all for the support. Well...I checked my tickets one time. At first I was pretty ticked while going down through the first few. I was getting soooo close as usual. I had two numbers on multiple lines, and was missed by one to three digits on the other numbers. But first off I ran through very quickly and checked off all powerball matches, I just could not resist. Cool, where did you hear that one from? I won't be checking my numbers until Tuesday morning, and will be leaving my tickets in the visor until then. Yeah, I agree that purchasing all the combinations is not a good idea even if it were possible. You'd lose big if the lottery sold another jackpot winning ticket.

I noticed that all my QPs made quite a good wheel! I thought there would be a lot of repeats, and there were some, but no numbers were missing! All digits 1 through 55 on my 60 tickets came up at least once, and multiple times in many odd combinations. That is good, because most of the drawings I have seen are very odd! Somehow saying 100 tickets cuts the odds down to 1 in 1.4M doesn't make sense to me. Down's answer sounds more logical. If you buy 100 tickets you have 100 chances in 146 million which is not the same as 1 in 1,460,000....is it? I mean, if there are 146 million combinations, then there are still 145,900 others, right? since it's not really random, it depends as much on which state (and where within those states?) you buy those tickets as you buying those tickets in the first place. i'd never buy 100 tickets in arizona, oklahoma or washington dc for the powerball jackpot. i have no idea about louisiana. i might be tempted to do so in missouri, pennsylvania or idaho. 8 years ago, i would have been tempted to do so in wisconsin and (especially) indiana. i don't know which states produce the most winners all... Don't give in to defeat! Keep at it! Even if you save like I do about $20 a month, and play when the jackpot gets big. To me big is anything with a cash value of $20 million or more after taxes. All that studying, and paper work only to miss digits by one, and get one or two numbers on one line tops. Then I go by a QP on a whim for lucky for life, and get 4 out of 6 with the other digits being off by one digit! Yes that was demoralizing to say the least. So you know what, QP do your thing then! Not demoralizing, you had visualized winning so you almost got what you were seeing if I'm understanding you correctly.

If you do visualizations then you have to be prepared to lead your own parade ... sounds like you're definitely doing just that. Several individuals have bought $100 or more worth of lottery tickets for one drawing and won both the PowerBall and the BigGame, but most have done it when the jackpot was large. Jack Whitaker who won the large PB jackpot and the guy from Michigan that shared the largest jackpot ever(BigGame) are two that comes to mind.

Because if you picked your own numbers, you could have picked every number for the powerball at least twice, and almost 3 times, and had a return of at least $9.00 My friend once played 10 lines of all the same numbers for the powerball, and got the powerball for a $30 payout. Seems to me, it would reduce your odds only infintesimally. The odds are based upon each combination. And each combination has the same 1 in 146 million chance to win. I know the arithmetic makes it look like y ou have dropped your odds to 1 in 4.6 million, but numbers can lie. IOW, a hundred combinations, and each has a 1 in 146 milllion chance.

well if you want aother way to look at it $100 covers only 0.00006849315 percent of the possible combinations. That means that there is a 99.99993160785 percent chance that you didn't pick the right combination. However people win with a dollar bet so if you feel lucky, have at it. Good luck

I think the odds are still too big even if you buy 100 tickets. There have been a few people on LP who have spent a hundered dollars on tickets and won nothing. But if you have a hundred to spare and it won't effect you if you do lose it, I say go for it. But use a filtering or wheeling system to choose the numbers and don't do quick picks. Well, buying 100 would technically lower your odds considerably. But you also need to make sure you cover all the numbers you filter plenty of times and make sure each number gets the same amount of coverage (or something close). If have 22s and 39s on every line, you will become too dependant upon those numbers, which will increase your odds.

The PowerBall odds are about 1 in 146,000,000 I believe. So what would the odds be if you bought 100 tickets for 100 shots? Would that be 146,000,000 divided by 100 for a 1 in 1,460,000 odds? I may try this, plus some filtering that could reduce the odds by millions more.
