I agree he should have photocopied the front and back. You can go to the lottery commission, but without the actual ticket or bot sides printed, you'll probably be out of luck.

Tell your relative to keep looking for the ticket and find it! That's the surest and simplest way to present a claim for the winnings.Your relative should get an attorney and immediately put the lottery corporation on notice of what has happened. True, the back of the ticket offers no direct proof of what was printed on the front, but it would be rather compelling evidence if someone else tried to claim the winnings using a ticket with that serial number and your relative's signature (or the app... [ More ]

The S/N on the back of the ticket identifies the section and roll of paper that the ticket was printed on and it can be traced to the retailer that used it but not what was printed on the front of it. Check with your lottery commission, you probably won't be the first person who tried to claim the jackpot that way.

Family member won the the NJ pick 6 lottery but is unable to locate the winning ticket. He photocopied the back of the ticket with the S/N and his signature. He just misplaced the ticket. Is that enough to go to the Commission with? Does he have to bring a claim to through the courts? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
