I think I asked this before, but does one have to still file if they invested the winnings in a NON interest bearing savings account? Why would they, it was only income ONCE. Anyone could live off that much principle if they chose to. Depending on ones circumstance? I think after winning $100 million or more ones previous circumstances will not matter at all to the IRS. The fact is that you have $100, or whatever amount, NOW.

Probably. Also those who are just as dumb who think that the winners holding up the cardboard check actually get that amount. Even the reporters are that dumb, why do you think they continued to say that the Wests' won $340 million dollars, even thought they will never even see close to that amount. Do you really think there are people out that are so dumb that they don't know that the jackpot is an annuity amount and that they have to pay taxes weather they accept the cash value amount or go for the 20+years annuity amount

I just wish the would stop lying about the jackpot amount. $112 million my a$$. As if people actually have the choice to not pay the 25% Federal tax. Some people out there actually assume they will get the $112 million. Most will select cash for about $40 million anyway. I don't know how they get away with such lies all the time.
