I hope the casinos survive more hurricanes in the future so it won't close down. Thanks a lot for making damage to the casinos Hurricane Katrina.

The casino magic barge was physically lift and landed across highway 90. It was a fair size barge. the grand had two barges and the both ended up north of highway 90. Also the President. They are dismantling them. Just one big mass of metal on a barge. The area down there is a lot of slabs, not much standing. will take quite a while to rebuild. They just opened up highway 90 for regular traffic within the last month. Some part were only two lane, but I think will be opened to four lanes... [ More ]

Wow, very sad. There were several very nice casinos built along there. I can imagine they are scrambling to rebuild. Thank goodness they changed the rule about needing to build on a barge. (It was a pretty stupid rule to begin with.

Alll the barges are gone. They have been given permission to build on land. The one's that have reopened have done so on a small scale. The have put the gambling in the lower levels in their hotels.Of course construction is going on around the clock to bebuild all the casinos. I might go down and look them over this weekend.

Any idea what happened to Casino Magic? That was one of my most-frequented casinos. I stayed in that hotel many times.I also went to Isle of Capri mant times (stayed there many times too), so I'm glad they made it. They had a great buffet.

The Isle of Capri, The Imperial Palace, and the Palace are open. They all opened either right before xmas or right after.
