I agree with Wiseman's statement. If only lucky people won the lottery then unlucky people like me wouldn't have a chance! Remember Joe Btfsplk (Lil Abner) the jinx with the dark cloud over his head? He may have filed for bankruptcy because he couldn't/wouldn't pay his creditors but he had money to buy lottery tickets. Anyone who can afford to play can win.

According to Wiseman: Chance events are like winning the lottery. They're events over which we have no control, other than buying a ticket. They don't consistently happen to the same person. They may be formative events in people's lives, but they're not frequent. I guess he can't help us lottery players win a jackpot.
