hello all...I found the fix for my problem. I wen to help and did a auto fix/repair in the help options. I have excel 2000 or office pro.Thank you all that helped out.Looking to create new formula of counting digits in a split pair form.Example: 123 this would be set up like123 in one cell then next to it would be the formula that take that # in the cell and counts 1x3 just the 1 3 and puts the out put in that cell with a count of best split pairs.The formula I have now =SUM(ISNUMBER(FIND(BY26... Hi time treat,What is the purpose of the ctrl +shift + enter sequence? Never used that one. Mainly it's for a array formula or from what I can see when you make formula on your own that is not in excel you have to hit these 3 keys to make excel accept it.Check out the link that was given it explain what it means.PP

if you get unexpected errors in excel that have no particular reason, this might help...close excel and use windows search to find a file callednormal.dotwhen you do, delete itrestart excel and this file will be regenerated automatically, it is a configuration file. (templates, I believe)I have seen this fix the strangest errors...

power,I'm using XL97. I c p this formula into a new sheet.It merged 24 cells and gave me 0 . After the unmerge, it put 0 into cell A1What is the purpose of the ctrl +shift + enter sequence? it was on the default of auto...I haven't changed anything...I'm baffled on this...thx for the help harelessPP

do you have auto calculate turned off in options?that may be it.

thank you all for the help...so far no luck still.I tried the uncheck formulas but, I didn't have that checked.It's a weird problem....if no one else is getting just the formula after hitting the ctrl shift enter...then I don't know myself..what went wrong..???If I open up a brand new excel sheet...and I'm at work it still doesn't work for me...I know I'm hitting the right keys..togeather...Maybe a one of the macro/scripts I did caused this...I'm going to have to dive in to this and work at it..... power,click on Tools --> Options --> View look under window options , uncheck formulas

I know there has been so many post on excel....Well either way..Here is my question:I have the following formula:=SUM(ISNUMBER(FIND(C69,$B$3:$AF$54))*1)Every time I use the ctrl + shift + enter it just stays with the formula in the cell???It use to give me the results and now when I add new formula anywhere even in a fully new excel sheet it still does it..Any one know how to fix this or what I'm doing wrong all of a sudden??This has been a halt to working on my program and is driving me crazy...
