your right about that.it amazes how some people chase a jackpot or even a cash 3 win but they spend more money chasing it than they actually win.in the end it defeats the purpose.a hollow victory at best.

A couple of years ago I had a co-worker that won over $140,000 on a slot jackpot. Later I learned that that didn't bring her up to even for the year! She and her husband had lost over $150,000 playing slot machines over the year.Very sad.

The story about someone sitting at the same machine is sadly a reality for some.I witnessed a lady sit at the same dollar slot machine at Caesars in Vegas for several hours . There's no telling how many $100 bills she fed into it to hit a (ready for this?) $1000.00 jackpot. No, she didn't hit the JP, but spent the equivalent OF it trying to HIT it. DD

As far as experience and extensive research goes, progressives are not a good bet if you want to hit a jackpot. I totally agree with Miss Bee on the ten pull and out theory. I, like her, have experienced that if you don't even get a little hit within the first ten pulls, it'll be a while before anything hits, if at all. yeah that did surprise me some.i had this one person who worked as a clerk at a convenience store tell me that he used to sit at one machine all night till it hit.he would go once every two weeks.he would lose sometimes and win sometimes.i do agree with the previous posts though in that if it ain't hitting at a certain point get up and move on.i have also heard tales of people watching a person lose a lot on a machine and then that person gets up and leaves and the person that was watching sits... I always play the progressives - they DO hit eventually. Rule of thumb is try everything at least once then you'll figure out your own set of favorites, but heed the advice of previous posts regarding length of time spent a the same machine. If it ain't paying, leave it. DD

I really like the Wheel of fortune machines. They are progressive and the odds are not good on the JP, but the hits are usually good when you get a spin of the wheel. Hit the wheel for $1000.00 a couple of times.... Also like the 2 coin 10 times and 12 time pay machines. ANY type of multiplier is good, but my favorite is the $1.00 12 times pay machine. There is One called Wheel of Fortune, which carries a bonus spin. Played that in Deleware and hit for 1k.Jeopardy 25Cent slot is a wonderful game too!There are actually some pretty comical slots too. Tunica is one of my favoriye spots especially Fitzgeralds. As you know the casinos there are spread out. The advice given in other response are great. The only advice I can give for Tunica is to play Fitzgeralds. When you enter the casino look for a circle of machines. There is a bank of 25 cent machines , about for of them and if I can recall they are the Blazing Sevens. I only like one slot machine and it' a video slot machine. It's the Price Is Right. First time I saw this machine was in Vegas.It's always a loose machine. I have played this machine in all casino's in Vegas and they all hit a big payout. I went to Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun and both casino's hit a nice payout for me. Generally, the higher the cost to play, the higher the payout percentage on the machine. But casinos have to balance the entry cost to the number of times the machine will be played, since casino profits are generally calculated on dollars per square foot of floor space. Add the maintenance and repair costs to the machine to the total figures.....Some casinos feature areas where they advertise 95%-98% payouts. Might be worth exploring.....glj

Set a limit per machine, if your not playing on the casinos money by the time the limit is up then move on to the next machine. My limit is $5 on quarter machines and $20 on dollar machines...

I love to play slots, they are my favorite, I won 20,000.00 on a machine at metropolis, It was a 10.00 machine and I was only playing one credit, the second pull got me the jackpot, one thing I have noticed on my way to many to mention trips to the casino is if you sit at a slot and it doesn't pay even a little something after 10 pulls leave it and move on, the more money you invest you think you have to win, that it will have to pay off soon, this I have found to be not true at all, my best w... OK. I don't play slots. I make a living playing blackjack, but I have heard that the way to play slots is to give nice tips to the drink lady each time she gives you one of those free drinks (hope you are not drinking booze). Then after awhile you ask her which machine is about to pay off. The change girls and drink girls get a feel for that. Good Luck.

From all that I have experienced (I'm not a big slot person, but others in my family are) it really doesn't matter what denomination machine you play. A family member of mine won $3,000 on a penny slot.Whatever machine(s) you play, the key point is that you play maximum coins . This gives you the best payback if you should hit a jackpot. Personally, the reason I don't like slots is the same reason I play Pick 3 but not quickpicks....I like to feel that I have some control over what happens.... [ More ]

Play machines that can be easily seen, i.e., out in the open, near snack bars and the bar, near wide isles and near cashier's cages. The logic is that casino's strategically place loose machines so they can be seen hitting either a lot or large hits to motivate other's to get back on the gaming floor. At my local casino there are over two thousand slot machines so you can imagine your choices. I know that when you go up in denomination the less the casino's edge is over the long haul.
