I think it is the time thing..I really do. I used to do all of that too. But lately, I have been doing other things...getting out more..not playing much..in fact not playing at all now BUT I do check my lists only 1 day a week to see what fell off of them. I don't really miss it that much either..I may play some next month or the month after..if I am inclined..if not well so be it. I like people better..I love talking to people so I am doing more of that.

It is fine to save and invest all that money you are putting in the lottery, but only if you want to keep living the type of lifestyle you are living now. Because no amount of saving, or investing is likely to equal what a jackpot win could give you, unless you are already very rich. Some people need to win more than others, but at the same time cannot afford play often. This is something I have always struggled with. I play more so because I NEED a big win, not because it is fun. But losing mak... [ More ]

In my humble opinion, it sounds like you are a bit obsessed, but it doesn't sound like you have a problem. And I don't think there is anything wrong with being a bit obsessed with it. That's what gives you the drive and the focus to follow the numbers. If you weren't obsessed, you wouldn't be able to win money to take your family on vacation. Presumably other people in your household who help with the finances have some say in how you spend money. But if you have some kind of agreed to discretio... [ More ]

lotaloot From the looks of all the comments, your problem doesn't seem as bad as you think....Its early in your lottery life, (I m in my 4th year), I used to think that way too, I didn't bet much but I did spend alot of time thinking of the better lottery mouse trap . I even mailed my spreeadsheets to work from home and and back again. But after awhile I settled down and found an entertaining pace,,,,I no longer get too excited or too depressed I just read the post and run through the numbers.... [ More ]

Ms. Kim, based on these few lines alone, then the simple answer to the original question is no. You are sacrificing too much for a game. You are worth more than any jackpot. Remember that! Your health (mental, emotional, physical), your family, your entire life cannot be replaced by the largest winning. You are very good with numbers. I would stay up until the last draw was in also. For 2 weeks now, I have been clean...lol....I no longer do that. You just pick a time to shut the computer off. I cleaned out my online betting account and I am sticking to betting one state....our state, Michigan and I don't bet everyday..........I set traps.......that is my newest venture....If I set the right trap, I can make a bundle...more than bet... [ More ]

I'm pretty pre-occupied with the lottery myself, albiet not with the same aspects of the lottery. Don't worry about it, some people have hobbies that they take very seriously, and that's healthy as long as you make sure to balance it with other things. And if that doesn't make you feel better remember this, at least the Lottery doesn't cause cancer (and usually it doesn't cause anything, lottery addiction is extremely rare).

The cheap thing is kinda no-choice....I'm working on the impatient thing. <g>Funny though how things work when you hit on a P3 the first day you play it like today's CA midday which I worked out this morning and it came in...then you don't feel so impatient. LOL ! Sometimes you do get what you want right away. But yeah, it can be frustrating when you have to wait.

The lottery was an obsession for me for a few months prior to the Big $300 million dollar jackpot win by the West family, and about 2 months or so after. I did not spend a lot really, but far more than I wanted to. I got sick of all the losses, and I have not played for a month or more now. No big deal. Once you shake being caught up in the moment, and do other things, you can easily forget it. I have been even posting much less here. The lottery has far more lows than highs for most. Of course
