lol However, its opening cash jackpot is the lowest its been since the matrix change ($6.6 million, actually less than Mega Millions'). Damn increase in interest rates!! Of course, 30.28855% of first draw sales is probably only about $4.4 million anyway, so the guaranteed jackpot is still above the amount of sales actually allocated to it.

Jake649, the PB drawing for Saturday night hit 29.1 million (annunity). It didn't set a new record by .1 million for a roll 2 record, but it was very close. However, the estimated jackpot for Wednesday will be 37 million, so records won't come any time soon.

I hope it continues to roll and make new records. I think people are more interested in PB when it reached the cap level. At 340 million, 49 tickets match 5/5, but missed the PB. At 365 million, 42 tickets match 5/5, but missed the PB. PB is doing a great job limiting 5/5 and fewer jackpot winners.

According to Powerball's press release, last night's draw sold over $24 million worth of tickets. Texas Lotto Report reported sales of just over $19 million, so $5 million worth of PowerPlays were sold. Therefore, the MUSL statistically expected one PowerPlay match 5 winner.

Lucky match 4+1 winners!! Too bad for the match 5+0 winner that PB prizes other than the jackpot are fixed, and not pari-mutuel, though, or that winner would have won $877,996 (the amount actually in the match 5 prize pool based on sales for that draw). On the other hand, if prizes were pari-mutuel, each match 4+1 winner would have received only $3,264 each assuming PowerPlay is not a factor.

For Mega 17 rolls would produce a 400 level jackpot and 18 rolls a 480-500 level jackpot. Since we are at roll 12 now I'm not holding my breath for that to happen. Cash would be around 230 for a 17th roll and 285 for a 18th roll.

Cash value for Powerball only grows at 12 million thanks to the cap rule so even if it rolls now it would be at 189.

Euromillions is stuck at 12 rolls so it's easy to deal with for roll records.

Yeah, I must have miscounted before - it would probably take 19 rolls for a $450 MM jackpot, not 18; eighteen rolls should produce a $380 million jackpot for MM.

I actually believe this will happen someday.

My modelling program shows an 18 roll jackpot being in the neighborhood of $350M, but I believe that my equation would not be very accurate at an 18th roll. I agree that the jackpot would be well over $400M annuity at that point.

I think the equation does pretty well through a 17th roll, I think. It predicts the likelyhood of an 18th roll at around 15% right now, at the current jackpot level. Such odds are definitely beatable.

The Powerball lottery did not set a new 15 roll record for the Feb 8 draw. The jackpot was only $213 million where the record is $221.5 million. The record was set under the old matrix. The Mega Millions 15 roll record is $294 million and was set under the old matrix for Mega Millions.

Interesting to note that at 15 rolls, the gap between the records for PowerBall and Mega Millions is the largest at $73 million. At 16 rolls, their records are almost identical at $314.9 for Powerball and $315

PrisonerSix and Jake649, if it has rolled to 210 million, I don't think it will hit a draw 15 new record. Roll 15's record for PB stands at 221.5 million and Roll 16's record for PB stands at 314.9 million. Everyone, PB completed the numbers where each number was the winning numbers of both the WB and PB in a certain draw after 12 years and 3 matrix changes starting from 5/45+1/45 to 5/55+1/42.
