lol However, its opening cash jackpot is the lowest its been since the matrix change ($6.6 million, actually less than Mega Millions'). Damn increase in interest rates!! Of course, 30.28855% of first draw sales is probably only about $4.4 million anyway, so the guaranteed jackpot is still above the amount of sales actually allocated to it.

And of course as noted in another thread...Powerball set a new record for having the lowest cash value ever. All these new records are nothing more than smoke and mirrors desigined to hype the game and sucker those who get excited by so called Record Breaking jackpots. The reality is the extended 30 year backloaded annuity (which nobody takes) is a bogus marketing plan that covers up the reduced cash value. Nothing has really changed except the fact that there are fewer winners, reduced cash

I actually believe this will happen someday.

My modelling program shows an 18 roll jackpot being in the neighborhood of $350M, but I believe that my equation would not be very accurate at an 18th roll. I agree that the jackpot would be well over $400M annuity at that point.

I think the equation does pretty well through a 17th roll, I think. It predicts the likelyhood of an 18th roll at around 15% right now, at the current jackpot level. Such odds are definitely beatable.

Jake649, since the advertised estimated jackpot is 180 million, there's a chance that PB will break the old record of 177.2 million. However, if it rolls, I don't expect to see any new records.

My records show that the jackpot value on August 30, 2003, was $135 million. My records are based upon the actual jackpot amount as announced after the draw. Possibly the lottoreport stats are based upon the projected jackpot amount made prior to the draw.
