Uff Da has it right. The numbers from a fortune cookie have just as much chance as a quickpick, but that's not the same thing as being just as good. When fortune cookie numbers hit 5+0 in PB a year ago there were 110 winners who mostly got 100 grand. The jackpot was about 25 million, so if they'd hit 5+1 they would have shared about 13 million in cash, for 118 grand each. That's a modest improvement for some, and a drastic decrease for the people with powerplay. If the jackpot had been a bit sma... [ More ]

I've never had a fortune cookie with a lottery number, but doubt that I'd choose to play it if I did. By my reasoning, one set of numbers is as good as any other, at least for a lottery with the odds of MM, which is what I usually play. Therefore, I see little point in spending my dollar on a set of numbers with such a high likelihood of multiple winners and necessity of splitting the pot.

The scratch off prize was all the fortune cookie numbers averaged...$15.00. If I had played the numbers, maybe better return on my investment. I'll never know. I crumbled the little slip and bought and ice cream sandwich

Yes, come to think of it I have played a few of those fortune cookie numbers. I won once of the few times I've done it. I think it was 20 dollars that I won (because of the power play option). I still do play then now and then, but they really have to be a set of numbers that catches my eye at that time. It's fun to try something out of the ordinary once in a while.

fja- Your story is delighting! Glad you kept your humour about the scenario. Thus far I have played- fortune cookies, expiration dates from milk cartons, License plates, check number from paying a bill, my kids birthdates, my drivers license number, my social security number, and my street address. My siblings birthdates, my anniversary and my employers address. Beleive it or not I've hit *straight bets* and *combos* from these. The resources are there its a matter of how they hit
