Congrats, Todd. It is a bummer that they use pari-mutuel payouts for the P-3 and P-4 in some states. Another rip-off for the player.

The P-3 and -4 are the only lottery games that usually pay off 50% of your odds.

The rest are rip-offs to the player. Casinos take about 8% of your money and race tracks take about 18%. The state takes a minimum of 50% of the lottery take and to make that take larger is a slap in the face to all of us who support our lotteries.

I like the fact that New Jersey's official site allows you to pull up the history of a number. I also like the fact that they show a payout even if it is a small payout. It kind of allows you to see the legitimacy of it's system. I enjoy going on the sites that have that. MARYLAND DOESN'T.

I agree, birthday numbers are great. However, my number is so rare in NJ (midday or evening) that it was really a stroke of luck to hit it when I happened to play. (I have been playing Pick 3 very rarely lately.

On a hunch I wheeled my favorite number (821) last night, and it hit (as 218)!

That's definitely the best way to win play one number, and that number hits. The only downside is New Jersey's pathetic payouts it was only $170 for the straight hit but I'm not complaining too much, considering my $3.00 investment!
