It might work as an add-on game to the main Pick-5 game, but it would crash and burn very quickly on it's own. Think of tenure of Double-Up Cash in Kentucky, that's how long it would last.

I think it would be interesting to see the payouts if the top payouts only required 3 out of 5 for the paramutuel split. If you got 4 or 5 out 5 it wouldn't matter. Yeah, no huge pay offs, but maybe a decent pay off for reasonable odds.

In the Ohio Rolling Cash5, such a rule would mean most of the time your chances of winning anything would be (5/5) 1:575,757 or at best (4/5) 1:3387 or an average overall odd of 1:3367. That would change the amount of tickets that win something now from 11.39% to 0.02%. Such a lottery would guarantee that 99.98% of the players would win nothing. Ohio RC5 has a minimum jackpot of $100,000.00 daily, and Ohio would have to sell 200,000 tickets daily to be able to keep 50% of ticket sales for itse... [ More ]

Do any states operate a Pick 5 (or any other game) like this? If not, would you buy with this concept?

Choose 5 numbers from a poll of whatever the standard is. Person who matches 5 of 5 gets the ENTIRE prize pool for that day's drawing. 4 of 5, 3 of 5, 2 of 5, and 1 of 5 get nothing. If no one gets 5 of 5, the jackpot goes to those getting 4 of 5, and if no 4 of 5 matches, it goes to those getting 3 of 5, etc.
