I think you are talking about El Gordo. El Gordo has a bigger prize but is divided in such a way that a town wins not one person. There is no equvalent anywhere else and it's not a jackpot game like Powerball, Megamillions, etc.

Powerball got generous and gave 48.5% toward the jackpot so a record pot would be equal to Euromillions at 451 million. It would take 4 rollovers to get to 465 which would top the prize.

Megamillions usually drops down to 58% for large prizes so a Euromillions priz... [ More ]

If EuroMillions cash value hit 219 million at one time as biggest prize ever, how big must PB's Jackpot need to be if cash value hit 219 million? Well, PB has hit a new North American jackpot annunity record, but not cash record for North America. Mega Millions currently holds that distinction.

Factoring in inflation on Powerball's back loaded annuity and the very high likelyhood of increasing tax rates it would still be Euromillions assuming anyone would be foolish enough to go for the annuity. Anyone taking the annuity stands a good chance of not living through the full 30 year period and the IRS would force a sale of the annuity anyways.

I plan on spending the money while I'm alive since the only thing I can do after death is vote in Seattle. So for me it's what you actually get... [ More ]
