Jake649, there is an update. MM didn't set a new record in roll #2. The current MM Jackpot is at 30 million. The current roll 2 record currently stands at 31 million. The current roll 3 record is 42 million. It will be interesting to see if MM rolls again and either ties or sets a new record for roll #3. Interest rates are bumping up the annunity value, but might not set records if gas prices continue to rise right now.

Yes I agree it is to do with the interest rake hikes. The states are expecting more from the annuities and that is why they are getting bigger jackpots. Nothing wrong with that.

This is a function of interest rates most likely and nothing else.

As determined from sales, the funded cash value as determined from actual sales (I don't track predicted cash amounts) of the second draw in the last run was $12.1M. According to the MA website, the predicted cash value here is almost $1M less, $11.3M. Unless the MM sells more tickets than expected, there will be no second draw value record.

Jake649, it's strange that a new roll 1 record was established so quickly. I think it's caused by momentum of rolls and interest rates. I had wished that MM didn't set the new roll 1 record because of the high gas prices. Now I hope it continues to roll and set records.

Geez! It took only eleven rolls to get a CASH JACKPOT of over $100 million!! I remember last year it took Powerball twelve rolls to get an annuity of over $100 million when it finally got there after having a lucky string of eight jackpot wins under $50 million.

That is very possible.

The Powerball has been running about $40M in ticket sales which would bring them, ignoring any reserve filling that may go on, about $12 to put in the cash jackpot. This would leave them just shy of the MM cash value.

PB would still be a better bet because of its lower odds, though.

Wow sales are up a lot. Lower gas prices maybe.....people have more disposable income? If you look sales are way higher at the lower levels compared to before. I mean look at the jackpot. We are $15,000,000 higher than the previous record and we are only in the $60 million range. It should be interesting to see how sales are when we get back up to $200 million which shouldn't take long.

I think the only record Mega is pushing for is how long it takes to hit a record. Considering the odds there should have been a much higher jackpot by now but there hasn't been. Euromillions has 100 million less combinations and it shattered all records. I have a feeling the Euromillions run is a rare event though.
