From the New Jersey lottery website:

Select how you want to get paid when you buy your ticket - either Annuity or Cash. Select Annuity if you want to be paid the jackpot amount over a 26-year period, or select Cash if you want to be paid the jackpot amount in a lump sum.

From the Ohio lottery website:

The Mega Millions prize is an annuity prize, although players can, at the time of claim, choose the cash option.

Thank you yes, I realize it is about New Jersey but you mentioned a couple of other Mega Millions states so that's why I mentioned Georgia and its options.

Probably not observant enough but haven't seen much information about Win For Life yet. Am personally wondering how long that game will last before it goes the way of Lotto South, although odds will be lower.

Thanx, but this thread is about New Jersey. You probably have seen that GA won't be offering a cash option on Lose for Life.

The Pick-6 Lotto slips IIRC do not have the cash/annuity boxes, but the NJ Mega Millions slips do. Chewie said you cannot change your mind if you win. I had thought that if somebody chose annuity on MM in New Jersey, they could change their selection to cash. The choice of cash/annuity when playing is binding in NY and Texas.
