I look at it as a means to win lots of money. I don't care who gets the dollar, it is worth the chance at the million dollars - or in the case of New Jersey, half-million dollars.

I see it as giving a donation/voluntary tax to my home state, with the added benefit of the possibility striking it rich. It only costs a few hundred dollars, so what have I got to lose? A few hundred dollars, so what? I also like the fact that that Massachusetts Lottery distributes the revenue to towns and cities to spent as they wish.

You can subscribe to the Massachusetts State Lottery games and you don't have to be a resident of Massachusetts.

There are a few states in the union who actually use the money for education. SC is one of them. If we (NC) had an education lottery when my kids went to college, man that would have been great. All a kid need is a B average. My oldest daughter is still paying back her loans. I got smarter with the second. I learned how to get scholarships and she received a few herself.

It would be nice if that indeed was the case, but the so called money for eduaction for example, gets put into the schools somewhere, and an equal or greater amount taken out somewhere else.

Every time you purchase a ticket, you are donating. For that u get a receipt with numbers automatically entered into the prized drawn.
