No, the cap rule is that if Powerball sets a new record jackpot, rollovers are limited to $25 million per drawing with the excess rolling down to the match 5+0 winners. This has already happened twice since the last matrix change, and it has never happened before even though the rule has been in effect since Powerball went 5/53 + 1/42 in October 2002.

It seems that some one(s) is confused between minimum winning and maximum or potential winning . I think that interpreting minimum as maximum may have a potential to mislead, though I may be wrong...

yeah,and if you purchase all 42 pbs qp,it's only a guranted 30 dollars if it lands on powerplay of 10,so you cannot win

Yea I used to do that a lot also. But then record jackpots started luring me away from my system. More plays usually equals better paybacks, with the powerball usually being an exception.

I don't think I'm going to PowerPlay any more even with the 10x slot. I did last Saturday and once again didn't hit a single number, just like the only other time I did. In fact, I'm going to disregard jackpot sizes and just play one and only one ticket (without PowerPlay) for every drawing regardless of how high the jackpot is. I'm not going to play Mega Millions anymore either, even if its jackpot is a record. It takes only $1 to dream of winning any jackpot size, and assuming no multiple... [ More ]

You make a valid pt DVDIVA.

My only retort would be the fact that PB isnt at the jackpot level to consider that the overage is going to pay out any time soon. So having the ten times play is an incentive with this lower jackpot amount. I dont mind spending an extra dollar to hit a possible two million on the 2nd tier level. I'd be just as happy hitting the 10K and having the powerplay ten hit

Focusing on the second prize just proved to me the lack of intellegence at MUSL. Their sales are not due to the second prize, it's due to the recent jackpot runs they have had. Getting rid of the cap rule would help sales. As it is now there is no point to get the powerplay if they give it out for free after it hits the cap.

That notice is also on the official website at poweball.com. Some states are offering a an extra QP when you buy 5 tickets, but nothing sells tickets like a big jackpot.

I just saw on the Louisiana Lottery website, http://www.lalottery.com/ that Powerball is adding a 10X ball to the PowerPlay option for the month of March. Wonder if that will help sales any?
