One reason I use the 11-20 category is I track denominations . Whenever I can rule out Teens (11-20) then I know 0-10 or 21-27 is about to play I can eliminate the 11-20 group.

Using sums is a very effective way to win in the pick3. The most common group of sums are the 12-15 group. To arrive at a sum just add all three digits together. cps10: I saw only two lists. Clipper's original which actually has 78 combinations and BA's updated list with 73. Unless I lost all basic addition skills I believe those are the correct numbers.

Thinking a bit more on the progression and box bet with the 78 combinations.

It actually would be workable to use the progression after 6 no hits, then play the progression for up to the next 3 draws. So from 7-10 draws. You won't be getting lots of opportunities to play but statistically sp... [ More ]

FYI:

75 random combinations

p=95% of a str hit in 38 draws

p=99% of a str hit in 59 draws

p=99.9% of a str hit in 89 draws

I didn't check the box probability but if you divide the straight by 10 on each, you'll get a good estimate of how many draws that way. So for p=95% for a box hit, it would be close to 3.8 draws.

Checked BA's 78 combos in his original post in the Western Canada Pick3

Playing all 78 combinations in every draw for the past 100 draws gave these results:

I have the progression available if you are interested in seeing it and maybe proposing a stop limit. This is on using all 68 combinations at a $0.25 box bet, with a $37.50 return on a win.

As for the random 68 combos, it's possible, assuming they are just singles, and not doubles or triples. However, based on mathematics, 68 single combos SHOULD come out the same amount yet, we have focused on the sum digits that mathematically come out most. I think....lol

CP - think I would first look at the repeat rate according to each pair. You know there will always be 1 digit repeat (the constant 0 ) there will only be 10 digits per position for 2nd and 3rd position. I imagine PURE combinations would be higher in additon to Doubles appearing in this tracking so you might not be able to narrow combinations down to your advantage like in the Pick 3.

I think paurths is the man for that job indeed. I am working manually on the singles and their skip avg. He can do the doubles average, or I can start on that next, but since there are only 24 combos for that range, you are looking at a $75 return on a $6 investment, so you have plenty of draws available as a buffer before having to progress your bet.

cp - we dont have Pick 4 here in Texas so I've never tracked those kind of games. If I did though what I would do is split the 4 digits into front pair/back pair and put a constant 0 with them in my software and treat them like 2 Pick 3 games. You could then go by the pair Sum and see what the range is there.

I would expect a lot of Doubles in this procedure since the combinations would be limited.

Without really looking into the Pick 4 game, this would be the way I would start track... [ More ]

Regardless I think we are onto something. I was looking at repeats kind of eyeballing them for some states. But not really doing it in depth. I think even if you include repeat digits, you are paring down the combinations to a smaller number. How small, I will investigate that a little further too. I also want to take a look at how many combinations would be included with just the numbers 6-9 since they make up the majority of the 68 #s.

Blackapple and cps = This past weekend I looked at the 68 combinations a little closer and found that they are not all even when it comes to the repeat/no-repeat consideration.

For instance, the set I used for the 45/23 split was the very first one under Sum 11 (056). This is a 45 to 23 split....or more in parpticular.....1-44-23. One for the 056, 44 for combinations that have 1 to 2 digits of 056 and 23 that dont have any of the digits.

Yes, I have been fooling around with the doubles, and can't get them to work. That doesn't mean I won't keep trying, but up until now, state-specific, I can't get them to pan out for me. Too many inconsistent losing streaks within them. Just when you think that they are getting ready to hit, they go on a 15-day hiatus.

Go back and read Blackapples original post of what I had posted in May, 2003.

Blackapple and Clipper. I've been testing this list posted and I think it is a good tool to use except when doubles show up. States have different sums showing. For instance , it may be SC having 12 , 13 , and 15 showing up most of the time and Va may have something like 12 , 14 , and 15 showing up more than others. !5 showing up the most. Been looking at the combinations from the standpoint of repeat and have found that not all cases are equal. For instance, if set 056 played and there was a 1 digit or more repeat there would be 23 sets to eliminate leaving 45 to pick from. This isnt the case with all sets. There are some ratios that go higher and some that go lower. Havent looked at the ratio of 2 digit repeat sets compared to 1 digit repeat sets yet.

As I know it, the ave is the range divided by the hits within that range. Say your range is 1000 draws and your strategy hits 20x, then the ave is 50. Conversely the median skip is the middle skip. Say the skip patern looks like this... 15 35 40 50 70 70 120 140 210 250. Then the median is 70. If you do the maths it will be more profitable to play below the median.

I am kind of doing this by hand on Excel. My advice is to work after the 5th skip. That's usually double what the median is. You can't depend on a number to come up on it's average every time. When it's double, and really, triple its due, then you should start betting it.

I have named it average skip , b/c that's what i call it.

Perhaps i should have written median skip, but since it might be different for every state (and depending on the amount of draws used) i thought it was obvious.

That's the problem with a lot of these software. Other than Ion's software, they all seem to give the ave of the filters. You see, after the median there is no telling how long that strategy will be out for.

This could also be set with a terminal-based game, i.e., playing offline. However, the progression would be much steeper with a much higher bankroll as a requirement. And probably much lower profits.

With the online game, you could even add a unit to each bet, increasing your profits substantially for minimal cash outlay.

I think Maryland is the test state, courtesy of Tungsten Chef

I have done some skip tests with this grouping of numbers, applying a progression, using $0.25 boxed bets, and using 5 as my skip. Meaning, that if these numbers are out 5 draws, then start betting on the 6th draw, all 68 numbers. I will experiment with 4 as my skip target too, but that would require a larger bankroll.

So far, with 5 as my skip target:

ARIZONA: $106.00 profit, largest drawdown: $34.00
