The odds of the jackpot being won in a single drawing don't go above 50% for PB until sales are above 100M, which happens when the jackpot is in the >300M annuity range.

The odds of the jackpot being won in a single drawing don't go above 50% until 121M tickets are sold, which has not happened in years.

If you predict a rollover, odds are ususally in your favor.

With the few border jumpers as a result of both jackpots being over $100 million cash, it's very possible both jackpots will set records and we may very well see a $400 million jackpot, especially from Mega Millions.

Last time when the PowerBall jackpot was $200M+ and MegaMillion $50M-, a local TV station did a story about PB lottery fever at the boarder and even had its reporter buys some PB tickets for the news room. Now that both jackpots are close to $200M there aren't any stories about either.

I think that will be more of an influence after the 200 mark. There would have to be sufficent motive for most people to travel to another state to get tickets. Megamilions may not even need outside state sales if it breaks 300 since it's such a rare event and Mega has a larger pool of potential players.

I think either PowerBall or MegaMillions might be rolling even higher if they both weren't about the same amount because they would attract more players from out of state. I normally play PB when it gets $200M+, but with the MM jackpot being about the same amount, I'm satisfied just playing the MM locally.

With the way the Powerball jackpots have been rolling, it's very possible the next record annuity jackpot will hit between $365 and $390 million if Powerball keeps rolling, in which case there is no match 5 bonus pool but the cap increases. Of course, Powerball could also roll once more beyond that if that happens, in which case we may very well see the first $400 million annuity jackpot.

Todd, I like it when the PB Jackpot continues to roll and set new roll records. I also predict that PB will continue to roll and set new records until it hits the cap @ 390 million. When PB hit the cap, more 5/5 winners will happen and there will be a winner and/or roll.

Good prediction, Todd! And, personally, good to see PB jackpot getting bigger. In my case, the only problem is how to allocate my lottery budget among so many good-looking jackpots.

MM, PB, FL, EM, and still more...

The Powerball (35) was the same as one of the first five numbers, which is usually a sign it will roll. We'll see, in about an hour.
