It was in 1980, the numbers were 666 , and the guys had painted the balls , I thought I remembered mercury but that's not what the court records shows.

Anyway the fix was in and the state would not pay off.

This has happened !!! Back in the 1970's in Pennsylvania. I was working as an Industrial Engr in a large machine shop. We always had 5 or 6 bookeys in the plant. Back in those days before the lotteries were started you bet a 3 digit number with the bookey, and the winning number was based on the take in at a local horse track. Well when the state started running the lottery all of the bookeys started using the state drawn number as their payout number. It was great ,you didn't have to leave the... [ More ]

I wouldn't have believed it either if I hadn't seen the shopping bag full of tickets. Then later heard it one the news that they couple won. When we were sitting at the local water hole. it was about 7pm or so the number goes off at 8pm. I was sitting in the bar when they walked in he told me about them having their anniversary and as soon as they got up that morning they decided they were going to play this number a pick3. Everywhere they went they bought multiple of 20 and 40 tickets straight... [ More ]

Tax due? I had to pay taxes on 2 Pick 3 tickets here in California (that was before I got smart on how to buy the tickets). They were over $600 each, so I had to take them to the lottery office and fill out paperwork and wait for the check in the mail (minus FEDERAL tax). There is no state tax in California on lottery winnings. The guy had individual tickets and most states pay $500 for a straight ... no tax due.

It is a good sounding story, but I don't believe it.

when they started cashing them word got around, stores with cameras captured there picture. My other guess is the tv stations got wind of it then it became a feisco. The lottery people wanted ther tax due. The couple made it public when they told people what they did.

There is something fishy about that story. Why would the lottery be looking for the guy ? There were over 1400 winning tickets spread out over time and distance. How did the lottery know that 1400 of them were bought by the same person

That would be my dream come true. To actually have a gut feeling that would pay off big.

How much to spend that would depend on several things. Like maybe I'd spend 20 bucks on a p 4 if I had sufficient funds I might go 50 bucks. But I probably wouldn't spend any more than that. Since there is no such thing as a sure bet.

The lottery doesn't care if you win money. Lots of people have cashed multiple tickets for pick 3 and 4 games. I know people who consistently bet 50 bucks on pick. Ano... [ More ]

Say you somehow found out on a certain draw at a certain date that a specific number would be drawn, and you knew the order in which the numbers were drawn. This is for Cash 3 and 4 players.

Would you buy as many straight $1.00 tickets as you could before the draw? If someone bought 25 $1.00 straight tickets 30 minutes before the draw, and they turned out to be a stack of winners, would the lottery get suspicious of the winner
