Todd, yeah, I know....but for all the discussions here about spreadsheets and what have you, well one way of looking at it is that for every person doing that, 8 other people are casting I Ching sticks or something!

Mathematical posts have to make sense based on facts to be taken seriously while mystical posts can be imaginable as the mind will allow and even when unreasonably imaginable they are never questioned even if doubted. This tells me that making a mystical post is easier than making a mathematical post backed with facts.

Winning a lottery depends on buying a ticket and getting lucky and mathematic explains my odds of getting lucky thus giving me a more realistic expectation of winning/losing a... [ More ]

Mystified by the mathematics, great play on words! My wife was looking at the board and said there's a lot of information here and a lot of knowledgeable people (and there certainly are), but, where's the justice when people try to apply math and who knows what else to the lottery - only for some lucky bast*** to walk into convenience mart and say, Give me a quick pick and be the one to hit.

I hardly know any math myself, but I think that I might know 1 or 2 things about winning on the pick 3 lottery games.

How many people are able to win on any of the lottery games thanks to any kind of advanced math?

Not very many I would guess, perhaps many math drop-outs do better than their more educated counter-parts.

Not knowing that you can't win, because lottery games are RANDOM , seems to help a lot.

In this particular case ignorance might be good.
