70 24-way boxes (1234 etc.)

Thanks Stack47. That 70 24-way box combiantions is what I was looking for. It's not about playing all of them at once. I want to play numbers from the 70 combos at any given time. Now how do I or does anyone have a program that will generate these numbers for me. I do not want to use the digits zero or one, also no repeating numbers or quads. Oh, I thought Eddie was asking how many 24-way box combinations there are using 8 numbers.

You're correct; there are 4096 straight combinations but if you want to box them all, there are 322 boxed combinations. (330 if you can box 1111 etc.)

56 4-way boxes (1112 etc.)

28 6-way boxes (1122 etc.)

168 12-way boxes (1123 etc.)

70 24-way boxes (1234 etc.)

Assuming either or both of the 2 unused numbers didn't appear, you would still lose $122 if one of the 24-boxes hit. And winning... [ More ]

Thanks guys. Opps I forgot to mention that I'm looking to play 8 different digits boxed, all combinations available except for repeating digits and quads. Thanks. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Overall, there are 5,040 Pick 4 combinations, or slightly over half the total possibilities, without repeating numbers. They can be boxed with 210 tickets.

You will have to factor 8 four times to get all the straight combinations.

8 * 7 * 6 * 5 = 1680 straight combinations.

To find how many boxed combinations, divide 1680 by the factor of 4 (4 * 3 * 2 * 1 = 24).

1680 / 24 = 70 boxed combinations.

If I want to play 8 different digits how many combinations would I have to play in order to guarantee a box win. An for kicks how many would I have to play to guarantee a straight win. Thanks in advance for the help.
