I thought you might find this interesting. According to this reference, the HR 4411 bill would cost the average American household $0.02 to be put in place. If you want my 2 cents (pardon the pun), they can all go to blazes on this one. Anyway, here it is:

Oh I've done that often enough on various legislation. All that happens is I get a form letter back telling me that the politician basically knows best and he/she is still going to push the legislation.

IOW you just get blown off. I doubt the pol even ever gets to see those letters. They spend tons of money on staff that looks at them and sends the form letters. And you never hear from or get anything in the mail from them during their whole term until they're running for re-election of... [ More ]

guys, first of all my question is they can prohibit online lottery from taking place in the U.S but they can not prohibit it in other countries can they?

Yes, it might even be possible to open an account thru the Internet without even going there at all, paper-work if any could be sent thru regular mail and money tranfers made in one of many possible ways.

Maybe even thru Mexico, but if not from there, then from somewhere over-seas.

Thru Mexico might be easy, maybe just a short visit to the closest border town.

Or Canada.

Maybe we should try to open some kind of account some-where overseas and transfer the money from there forth and back to the 25 cents online lottery stores instead of using a bank here on the U.S.A.

Another possible way is to send money to one of our overseas friends who comes here to LP and have him tranfer the money from a bank on his country to the online quarter store(s) for us in our name to be put into our spending account with the quarter store as to getting lottery winnigs from them,

If the gov raises the payouts for the state lotteries to 900 to 1 then I wouldn't be so upset. They want us to play their lame state lotteries with a lousy 500 to 1 payout ratio. I know theres a few state lotteries that pay $600 for a pick 3 hit but then why do the rest of the states pay only $500 for a pick 3 hit. Bush is pushing for amnesty and citizenship for all the illegals because he realizes rounding them up is impossible now. As I said, they (the govt) doesn't have the manpower/financial resources to do so. Can not be done, so the next best thing is make them all citizens and guarantee that they pay taxes. Govt wants revenue above all other things.

Uncle Sam's been trying to mussel in one the action ever since they found out about it. Some of these sites will exist no matter what uncle does. In order for uncle to stop it they pretty much would have to take control of the Internet, or penalize all banking transactions which are connected to it. Many things uncle might try to stop Internet gambling is going to meet with heavy opposition.

Well they have done this with Cigarette sells online so I would not be surprised when it happens to Online Gambling.

For years the government complained about lost tax monies on online cigarette sells. People were forced to go online because some states raised the cigarette tax so high that smokers could not afford to pay for them and with any addiction a smoker will do what they have to do to get their cigarettes and thus online cigarette sells skyrocketed and of course the government

I saw a documentary called Somebody's Listening on the history channel and WOW, you will be surprised. It gave true historical facts on wire taping and bugs and the laws surrounding them. Hoover listened to what everybody did.

Now there are companies that specialize in debugging conference rooms and very important meeting when big stuff is going down. Think about when competitors can hear what the others are planning. Some companies won't hold a meeting until it is debugged.

Rick, I agree that we should have a federal sales tax rather than an income tax.

The government did not monitor all of our phone calls ! They collected data on what phone numbers were called and from where. I don't agree with the government doing that either, but they did not monitor millions of calls.

That's why the only fair taxation is at the point of purchase. If you won a million dollars you would spend that million dollars and be taxed on it as you spent it. This write-off system on production taxes only benefits the big money in this country and hurts the other 99%. Wouldn't it be nice to see a corporate executive buy a million dollar home and actually have to pay taxes for the first time in his life?

This isn't the first time this subject has been discussed on LP. In fact, I didn't see the video, but someone gave a URL for articles on MSNBC and the newest article was in 2004.

Concerning if it is now illegal ... yes, but only for the businesses that are doing it, NOT the people that are betting. That will change if the new law goes into effect. The businesses that are overseas can not be touched by the United States, so that is why it is going on right now.

If its already illegal then people who already won and had money placed in their bank accounts could still be arrested in the future at some date. And even if a person reports their winnings for tax purposes, wouldnt that be like admitting that you broke the law by even playing the online casino lotteries? It's already illegal. It always has been. You can't use the phone lines to make bets.

But they can't enforce it, so they haven't been. Remember, it's one thing to make a law (politicians are great at making laws that they can't enforce) and another thing entirely to come up with the resources to enforce that law.

Also, when enough people do something against the law, it becomes unenforcable. They can't put that many people in jail. (or even deport them.....as evidenced by the 12 million... [ More ]

I agree!!! I have no problem with paying taxes if I ever won playing online don't get me wrong. I don't want people to think that I'm against paying taxes. I would be too scared not to pay my fair share. I just don't like the idea of being restricted from gambling online. Wake up America, write to your rep in congress and tell them to stop the non sense, that you want off shore gaming.

I just seen a story (that I did not get the exact details about) on MSNBC news channel Tucker carlson show. And they said there is a new bill that if it passes, will make ALL online gambling a federal crime! And worse yet it is likely to pass. So that will be the end of playing lottery online because the gov is upset because they are not getting taxes from it.

If somebody else knows anymore details can they post them here
