I would agree with Uff Da but for different reasons. Most of it is the appearence of being a looser or of wasting money on the lottery. I always find it ironic when smokers or drivers of SUV's chide a lottery player on wasting money. Unless they are 18 or 19 I doubt they just started playing. Of the people I know who don't play the lottery, the prize level isn't relevant since they don't play.

Nothing suspicious here. I play regularly and have my share of wins,albeit, they arn't as large as i would like them to be. What I do notice is that as bellyache has mentioned is that instead of picking most likely numbers is to do just the opposite and pick those numbers.

I keep a record and have a flowchart in place to track the numbers that do come in. What I notice on the flowchart is .....It is not the numbers that are way ahead of the others that are good picks but just the oppos... [ More ]

I don't think there is anything suspicious about it. There are a lot of people who only play once a month or they only play when the jackpot gets big. And there are some, who decide to buy a ticket for the first time on a whim. Remember, there are millions of people who play the game who don't ever visit this board.

I've read that it's easier to win something if you don't try too hard .... it's ok if you do win, ok if you don't.... so it' seasier for infrequent players to let go, let it happen.

Kind of like the winner who forgot to check his tickets until about a week after the drawing.

Could just be an advertising scheme by the lotteries when they have a non regular player hit something big.

Advertising like that could bring in more non regulars.

Toss some bait out and catch more players.

Anyone trying to pull the wool over the people's eyes woudn't leave tell tale signs for everyone to decipher. It's like if a bankrobber mistakenly leaves a red bandana with his name on it, at every bank he robs.

Do you think they really only play the lottery once in a while, or do you suppose that some of them just say that because some of their relatives consider playing the lottery or any gambling a sin? And they just don't want their relatives to know just how sinful they are. Maybe some of their spouses don't even know how much they play the lottery, and they don't want the spouse to know that they have been spending family budget dollars that should have gone elsewhere for years.... First time winners? It seems everytime I look at the press releases on the Michigan Lottery's website it says they have been playing the lottery since it began in the 70's or at least for many years. It might just be me but I think there is a good balance between newbies and oldies.

When someone wins a huge jackpot and they say I usually never play, I just heard the JP was big and I thought what the heck ..

I'm reading alot about Michigan Lottery winners and most of them rarely play the lottery. Some play once a month.. some play their first time. I never hear about people who win that plays all the time. Does anybody feel the same way
