Even if this bill becomes law, there's just no way to stop internet gaming.

As long as there are offshore e-wallets like Click2Pay, there shouldn't be a problem.

The penalties for doing this are just going to drown the legal system.

It's going to be a can of worms for the government. imo.

I wonder if you can set up an offshore bank account with an offshore Visa or MasterCard, can you use that credit card to gamble offshore, too? Then take the money, put in the offshore account, and access it through your offshore ATM card. It is nearly impossible to regulate the Internet. That is what has the government so upset.

This is taken from the FAQ's at Betslips. I feel that this statement may be a loophole in which to work around. If Betslips does not deem themselves as a gambling entity then perhaps they may not be included in said arena.

That's because nobody knows if the bill will get out of the House Committee. It never has before. Once it leaves the House Committee, then it goes to the House, then to the Senate and then to Congress. It has to pass at each level.

In my opinion I don't think it's going no where. This bill is more difficult than the immigration bill. I think the immigration bill will overshadow it and it will probably come back up in the next presidential election.

There is a way to avoid this. Set up a company outside the U.S., funnel your winnings there and channel them in through the back door. Preferably a company situated in a European nation. I think it will pass. Simple reason is that on line betting effects every state that has a lottery.

On the other side , someone will figure out a way to get around it. Betslips will move it's operations off shore.

Good example is the Cruise Ship Industry, very few of the Cruise ships that pull into our ports

are registered in the USA. Why, because with offshore registration they don't pay US taxes on all

of the cruise tickets they sell.

On the opposing side but only if they are smart is every state that has a lottery. Internet sales like what they are doing in BC, Canada and the National lottery in the UK is the future of lottery sales. If states don't act against this they could limit their ability to make money in the future.

What I think one of the problems is with the gov't having an issue with online gambling is that money is taken out of circulation in the U.S.

Take money out of circulation creates a drain on tax revenue.

Every dollar spent in the U.S. changes hand many times thruout the year which is taxable by one means or another every time circulated.

I have to agree, this will probably pass. Online gambling makes billions of dollars every year that don't go to the big casinos. It mostly goes to offshore operations because it's illegal for US businesses to engage in the activity. No taxes pouring into US coffers. There's no reason for it not to pass, really.
