Chinese guy it was, back before Confusious.

He was playing around separating yarrow stalks, generating numbers inside a 1/64x6 matrix trying to survive as a royal oraclist.

Bossman with fingernails six inches long and a mustache that hung down to his waste asked him to find out what the oracle had to say about funding a fortress wall a thousand or so miles long.

10 out of 80 even though 20 numbers are drawn is still bad, is unthinkable...And what concerns me the most is that, how many sets does an abbreviated wheel for 10 or 20 numbers come up to...Abbreviated wheels for pick7 has lots and lots of combinations/sets. Now image 10 or 20? Don't say is not bad; it is bad..If it was invented in ancient times i don't know why they still use it, we are in modern times now..i guess still clinging to old ideas...

It was invented in ancient China. It used the names of characters in Confucius poems instead of numbers. And again, 10 out of 80 isn't bad when 20 numbers are drawn.

thank you john77...I don't know who invented keno..I guess you can compare him with the guy that invented the atomic bomb...I guess they use a computer to do the job right? because it will be too many balls to use...But that's an injustice, creating a game like that...

NY Pick 10 drawings are on cable (actually, when the P10 segment comes on TV, the balls have already been drawn.) All other NY drawings (including Mega Millions) are on free television.

OK, in casino Keno you can bet up to 15 numbers....here's the thing abouyt Keno, as far as I know, no one has ever hit 15 for 15, tell you anything about the game

Yes, few play Pick 10. But the $500,000 is lump sum, and the payout is 50%, compared to 38%-40% in NY Rotto. Overall odds of winning are 1:17 v NY Rotto's 1:46. The smallest prize in Pick 10 is $4 (for matching zero numbers) against $1 in NY Rotto (3/6).

I've never understood why anyone would play that game. The odds of hitting the jackpot are 1:8,900,000. And as you said you only win $500K. Overall odds are 1 in17 (compared to 1:8.77 for take 5). I rarely see anyone winning this game.

The NY Pick 10 looks like it's based on the casino game of Keno, out of a field of 80, 20 are selected. You might find it interesting to Goggle Keno odds .

Maybe I missed it on the NY State lottery site but I didn't see odds posted anywhere.

I'm not sure you calculated the odds right but I know they are astronomical.

We've had discussions here on the board about how big would a matrix have to get before anyone stopped playing - I think the lottery commissions look at that... [ More ]

I don't know guys, but i must be dreaming...I knew that new york had a pick10 but i thought it was from 1-60. Now i know better. I couldn't calculate pick10 from 1-80 but i could calculate pick9, 1-80..and the answer is: 5,797,507,430,000......

is that a quadrillion?What the hell is that?How can the government perfom such an act?HOw?Can someone enlighten me and tell me if i am not imagining things. Someone once said that new york had the worst lotto but didn't know what he was talking about..... [ More ]
