In general what the government needs to be doing it doesn't do it. Instead of passing such a strict law about no one been able to write about online gambling, they need to be passing laws that don't poss a threat and ensures the wellfare of the people. What threat will someone writing about onling gambling pose? Whe the Govt. needs to be doing is lowering the state highway speed, landing hard on drunk driving, and been relentless about keeping cigarettes out of this world...But what does the gov... [ More ]

I live in Wa State and consider myself a liberal ad this does not look like the work of liberals, but the actions of people who want a gambling monopoly in Wa. If the people are sheep then it doesn't matter who is in charge. I am looking into playing other states lotteries because I am so sick of Washington.

There could be a legal challenge on that one, under the 1st Amendment - freedom of speech and press. A legitimate purpose for such prohibition (for example: to discourage on-line gambling) would not suffice.

i'll be glad when election year is over so these bastards will go find something else to do besides badger people with things like online gaming.they seem more interested in catching an online gamer than driving down the homicide rate.politicians are among the most ignorant people on earth.i know they have a job but sometimes the dumbness of it all shines through.......

I think annuities must have gone to your head on this one. All online gambling is illegal and the first case they have chosen to prosecute involved only WRITING about online gambling. The ironic thing is that tribal gaming contributes no tax money towards the state in any way.

This is similiar to the no smoking rule that also doesn't apply to tribal casinos and bars on reservations. Money is only contributed to campains not the state itself so only self-interst is at work here.

Just one question..how many billions is it going to cost them to catch the on-line gamblers? I wonder if they will employ full time personnel to track down those hardened criminals or will they just give the FEDs another job.. after all they always seem to catch the folks who download all kinds of porn so maybe they have some sort of program that will put some spyware on everyone's computer and send back information...(I AM JUST JOKING ABOUT THE LAST PART)...BUT WHO KNOWS...MAYBE NOT....... I hope this means people in WA state would not be able to play NY Rotto by computer. And there are still several annuity-only lotto games, such as MA Megabucks and PA Unlucky for Life.

Yeah, states will support gambling to the extent they receive money from it, but they hate internet gambling because the they will not receive any revenue from it.

I'm so glad I live in such a corrupt state. Our Gambling commition must be on the bribe train with the tribal casinos. I wonder if bribes are direct deposit for their convience. Just remeber this may be the blueprint for a federal law. Just like DCMA prevents people from even talking about bypassing controlls on media.
