Read a few years back that during the Chinese invasion into Tibet some Buddhist monks were imprisoned, guarded carefully 24/7. At least one of them simply simply vanished as if they never existed in the first place while still imprisoned in their well guarded very secure cell.

Unexplainable things happen and under circumstances of duress you described above, I personally have no doubt you made it happen through sheer intent. Very inspiring story, thank you for sharing it with us

I don't mind, Jack. The time I was referring to was in 1987 or early 1988. I'll edit and skip the reason, but I had an argument with a man I was dating. Doubts about higher powers and their involvement in our lives are something probably all people of faith have gone through occasionally. Some were canonized as saints. Some were the most profound Christian theologions.

Sometimes the successes of affirmations and mantras seem to become so commonplace we take them for granted. I suspect both of you see enough of this sort of thing so's it needs something spectacular to seem worth noticing.

Was all this on the big island?

Finding an actual drop of Hawaiian blood on Oahu was becoming a rarity by late 1964's the reason I ask.

I was working as a busboy in the Hilton Hawaiian Village ..... surrounded by Filipinos.... me the only Haole among them and not a single Hawaiian.

Most of the New Age community, be they healers, dowsers, Silva aficianados, you name it

Most will swear such methods can only be used for 'good', or for 'the greater good'. Most would say the same of almost every avenue of metaphysical energy manipulation.

The Hawaiins had no idea what would happen, but were just hoping to pox the Boyds somehow. It really was a freaky thing to be a part of.

When I first started posting here I mentioned that illinois Little Lotto had been a 5/ 30 game with a constant jackpot of $200,000 (the odds against hitting 5/ 30 are less than 200,000:1).

It since has went to 5/ 39 with a progressive jackpot but chump change prizes of $100, $10, and $1 for 4 of 5, 3 of 5, and the $1 added for 2 of 5, whoop tee do.

Regarding affirmations the last Silva newsletter I got had an article which said that it's easier for your mind to deal in pictures of your desired outcome than words, so in addition to repeating words of a mantra, add a little bit of imagery to them for a more successful outcome. My mantra is "Nam Myoho Renge Kyo".

It doesn't win me any money and it's not supposed to, but it seems to work well for helping others through difficult times.

My own opinion is that mantras, prayers, etc. do not help the individual as much as those around that individual.

I have no way of knowing what the overwhelming percentage of LP members think.

However, it's untrue that the people I correspond with by email criticize you, or criticize LP.

They have merely come, attempted to interact insofar as systems and ideas and innovations. And they've decided they didn't care for their experiences (not with you, but with other members) in their attempts to do so.

If that is what people do what becomes the accepted way things are is the story that is most likely to be retold rather than the theory that best stands up to the challenge of observed reality. I would think that a lottery player would want to have an opposite mantra -- something related to winning and/or coming up with the right numbers. Doesn't that make sense? They say the power of positive thinking is extremely strong, and that's something I believe. Thinking negative thoughts will probably bring negativity and unhappiness, wouldn't you say

Most religions involve the use of affirmations and mantras of one sort or another, though they mightn't call them that.

Non-religions and quasi-religions also use them. Daily gratitude affirmations, forgiveness affirmations, goal affirmations.
