Everyone does what is easiest for them. The more you do,the more you look for an easier way to do it. The other day I wanted to try my hand as picking numbers for the West Virgina Cash25 and when I went to their website I found 1359 records going back to 01/03/2000, there was no way I was going to re-type a file that size by hand when a minute to find, replace and save would do the same thing. yqw - glad to pass the word.

The software's capability to handle files as large as 2Gb doesn't hurt, either, although in files that large, moving from place to place will produce unexxpected results at the top of the screen. It'll seem disconcerting at first. Takes getting used to.

For what it does, it's still a bargain.

Man, am I that far behind the times!? All ya'll go using computer programs, cutting and pasting, unicoding it here and there. Ya'll got me beat 9 ways from Sunday. I use my fingers and type the numbers into Excel.

That's an awfully cool program. I downloaded the free trial version and am super impressed, though it's going to take some learning.

Seems a bit unforgiving, however. The 'undo' button doesn't let a person back up from, say, the cool sort he just did ...... if it isn't saved or backed up, how it was before is lost.

But I've only been playing with it half an hour. Might just be a matter of learning it more thouroughly.

I just tried it.

Yep, surely does paste. Trouble is, all the numbers are in the same cell.

I'd forgotten I knew that already and that was the reason I had to find another way.... some means of getting them into text format, getting the hyphens, commas, trash out and a TAB between each number so's it could be pasted into Excel.

I've got a trial version downloading, but it's 7.7 Mg.... says it's going to take hmmm another hour and two minutes and a smattering of seconds to get it all downloaded.

Looking forward to trying it out for a month on their nickle before I have to give it back.

I use UltraEdit as my text editor. With its columnar editing capability it's the best thing for editing columns of numbers, creating .csv files, making HTML tables, anything of this sort you'd care to name. I believe the price on it now is $40 but when I purchased it, it was $35. Best investment in computer software I've ever made.

I'd be lying if I answered yes. But it's knocked out one step in the process.

I've not yet whupped the other aspects people have posted. They might make it simpler, also.

But it's always going to cumpersome, thinks I, until there's a way just to cut and paste directly to Excel.

Maybe there's a better spreadsheet out there that will allow it.

Rip Snorter, my vote is yes. I think you can convert numbers into Excel. I have some lotto history from CA SLP, Washington Lotto Plus, Texas Lotto with Bonus Ball, Powerball, and Mega Millions in my word document. I have their frequency recorded on Excel.

It was a selfish thing for me to do, cps10.

This whole issue of getting numbers off the web and into Excel's had me chewing my mustache almost from the day 1. Out of hunger I eventually came up with the thing I described in the top post.

But that was after I'd already hanged myself half a dozen times and jumped off three cliffs. One patch of the area between my left nostril and my upper lip went spang bald on me out of anger and rebellion from all the gnawing it was getting.

Some of what you have there is reminescent of some of the stuff the comp threw at me when I was trying to get it to help me by using MS Access. I finally set that one aside thinking maybe someday I'll get younger and try understanding it again.

I don't use Excel, but I do use a program that imports ASCII files with .EXT(extension) *.LOT. For the file to be readable each line(record) has to have the following format:

MO,DA,YR,N1,N2,N3,N4,N5,N6,N7

I usually copy and past the data from a website to NotePad and use the editing tools in NotePad to change the file before saving it with an appropriate name for my program. N6 is for pick6 games and N7 is for games with a bonus number, the program knows which it is by its importing ins... [ More ]

Sorry to vote NO, but that's not the way I do it... Well, my way might not be any better though, so here goes:

-Copy Paste data to Notepad

-Save Notepad file

-Go into Excel import data right from notepad file you're done

I like this method, because when you import a notepad file into Excel; you get a chance to tell Excel exactly how you want it imported. I.E. use the spaces as columns or use the ;'s for columns or use a tab for columns or whatever you want to define as your co... [ More ]
