I like online play alot (altough im not quite of age to play online yet, i like the promise of it), so i have a numbers lady, a rare breed nowadays but if it wern't for her i wouldn't have hit the 2 times i alrdy did :). i can get as low as 5 cents a pick on p3 or p4 this way instead of paying a dollar a pick and only playing in one state.

I buy my tickets at convenience stores. There's a Circle K right around the corner from me and there's another chain store on the way home from work. I go to these places for tickets because I can be in and out fast. The two major supermarket chains, Winn Dixie and Albertsons, do sell tickets too but every time I go there to buy them, it takes them a long time. I picked by mail, which is not exactly true. As the USPS can not carry lottery tickets, so much for a free market, the Massachusetts Lottery send them by UPS. I also play the UK lottery by subscription, the Royal Mail has no problem delivering them.

i went to a store friday to get lotto 5 tickets.the clerk saw me with tickets in hand the whole time in line.when i got to the front she said the machine had been down for a while.she could've told me beforehand instead of making me wait like that.......

I think it's really great when a small store near home sells tickets. It certainly is very convenient, especially with the skyrocketing price of a gallon of gas. But something just occurred to me - this board is always discussing anonymity and how to protect ourselves from the crowds after we hit the big one. Does anyone here feel that buying a ticket at a small local store might put you more in the spotlight than if you bought your ticket in a large supermarket? I guess if I knew of a family c... Until a couple of weeks ago I had to drive 7 miles down the mountain into Bernalillo to buy my tickets. Interestingly, I'd noticed one place down there where it was worth buying a QP when I got other tickets... pretty consistent at paying for itself, or even making up for some of my bad calls.

But the gas station down in the village here just put out a sign a while back saying they're selling tickets now. I haven't bought lottery tickets in the couple of weeks since they started doing it, b... [ More ]

Emily, I was having such a good day that I didn't let her attitude bother me. I thought it was kind of funny for her to waste all of that bad reaction and stll had to get my tickets. It wasn't until I got home and saw the triple 1s had come out and realized I hadn't put them in as I had been doing all week,that I got boomed out about the situation.

Oh well, spilled milk. Trying to hold on to that Inner Peace!

Funny you mentioned a gratuity. A clerk at my joint asked me if I wanted a ticket for our Little Lotto this morning He knows I play it every day. Hadn't planned on buying it at the time but what the heck I got my quick pick. As I was leaving the store we were talking about a $5000 "tip" from the $150,000 jackpot. I buy local lottery tickets all over town, that way I'm the only one who knows how much I spend, how often I play and how much I win or lose. When I cash in my winning tickets, the clerks don't know me well enough to expect a tip. Since I cash my tickets where I buy them, I will return to the same place several times during a winning streak.

I usually buy mine at a family owned convenience store, which has a very friendly and accommodating atmosphere. This store is closed on Sundays. As I stated in a previous thread, there are atleast 2 places on every street in my area that sells lottery. Today I decided to go to the grocery store. I told the girl at the customer service boothe, I'd like to buy some lottery tickets please. If she turned her nose up any more than she did, she would have flipped over!!! A friend of mine buys his tickets from a machine at a supermarket chain. Never could understand that.

Another point to consider where to play your lottery...go with the guy who pays you. How many times have you gone back to the place that sold you the ticket, but they don't have the money to pay you for the win? My convenience store will go into the regular cash register and pay out in five dollar bills if they have to, but you get paid.

I voted convenience store, but also buy them at grocery stores, too - and I should know better, but...

I get the emails of the winners for Little Lotto every night ( Illinois) and it's rare that the winning ticket is bought at a grocery store, happens, but usually it's a convenience store or a liquor store - and of the convenience store winners, it seems an awful lot of them are bought at a White Hen Pantry.
