I didn't know this could be done w/ a regular formula like LC23 linked to, but wrote a macro to do a similar thing some time ago. The macro route takes a little more setup work, but it's just a matter of preference.

There's software that will do what you want but only one state at a time unless you combine all the results of each pick5 game into one large file. Using Excel would required you to do the same which would require a lot of entries by hand. Good luck to you.

Cool thread. I've seen repeated references to this subject.... hypersonic has done a great deal to try to help people understand the possibilities in the past. You might track down his posts.

I know people claim to be able to do such stuff. But it's beyond my ken. Therefore it's wrong. A myth. A black lie. They're both crazy and mistooken.

OK, I'm always playing with numbers but I use pen/paper and get bored before I finish coping the numbers for my latest theory and give up. Sometimes I use Excel for basics but I'm not knowledgeable about formulas. Here is the latest formula I'm looking for:I want to compare the numbers drawn in the US on any given day for the Pick 5 games. I copy/paste the results from LP in excel. Example of one line:
