its ran by the state lottery commissions, in ea state. or a private company in the case of tattersals.

i remeber b4 computers being popular, we had a name and address section on the carbon copy lotto tickets. we had to enter our details, and tick a box to remain anonymous. we kept s copy and the other copy was sent on by the agent!

when it all became electronic, my state added a members or players club. where your details where linked to the ticket. prizes cant be claimed without y... [ More ]

Thanks for clearing that up. I did not know that New South Wales, Australia, had a Players Club.

Is the Club sponsored by or linked by other means to the actually Lottory?

Is this Club something we should be lobbying for over here?

Sounds like such a club would be a good idea intra-state wise. We have anti-bookie laws which would prohibit inter-state sales of lotto tickets.

The Players Club is the convenient registration card system for all NSW Lotteries games sold through the terminal. Your Players Club card ensures all your prizes are automatically mailed to you if not claimed (see Claiming Your Prizes section below). You can even store your favourite entries against the card.

True, but the Lottory does not mail them a letter informing them they won. Nor do the various lottories try to telephone the winner.

Evidently lottories Down Under have the name, address and phone number of everyone who buys a ticket.

this is over in england somewhere.what i'm thinking is over there they might have to show identification when buying a ticket and the information is stored for later use or in case they do have to notify the winner.england and america are complete opposites in a lot of things we do.i can say one thing i'm glad i live in the land of the free and home of the brave

Alot of people become millionaires and don't know it. they buy a lottery ticket and forget about it and then after like a week or so they check the numbers and they find out they won, it happens all the time

I was wondering the same thing myself, unless the store videotapes everything at the cash register counter, and they played the tape back to the minute and second of when it was sold (which is in the barcode of every ticket sold), and the clerk that sold it recognized the person.

How does the Lottory people know the name and address of the person buying a ticket? Must a player give his/her/its name when they purchase a lottory ticket?
