One of many differences being, cigarettes, drugs, and beer detract from your health and overall lifestyle. If you lose playing the lottery, you are simply losing money. But if you win, your life changes drastically for the better. Of course provided you are at least somewhat intelligent enough to manage it. Plus you never have to play again, but those spending money on bad habits will likely continue regardless of any circumstances.

I have a lottery budget that I adhere to each month. Usually no more than $25-$50 tops. With this budget I usually stay on top. Especially considering that I finally won the Big-4 TWICE for $5,200 this year picking my own numbers. I only played one ticket each time as well, as oposed to 10-20 tickets.

Really good thoughts and I agree with you. I can think of a lot of ways to throw away money but I enjoy the picking of numbers and hoping they will hit. I veiw playing the Lottery games as a hobby. If you do not go crazy spending it is enjoyable to think about the things that could be. Its been my experience that if I view it in this way I do not feel bad when I do not hit.

On paper I won about 30 some thousand. Spending 2 to 3 hundred a day, for about 90 days. I wanted to spend the money, but the wife gave a strong NO!

I could not convince her, even tho on paper I showed it could be done.

The big hurdle is that the State takeout is in the 50 percent range. On Slots it's supposedly around 3% or something like that. If you play without a decent algorithm (system) you have to be extra lucky to come out ahead on daily numbers games.

I have been playing for the past year and I definetely lost much more that I have won. The most I have ever won was $50.00. But sometimes in life, you loose before you gain an excessive amount of money. but I think you need to be optimistic and one day you would win a huge sum and I am looking forward to winning some big bucks soon.

I've alway kept a win/loss total every year and it has only been positive once for a few months several years ago when I won $1500 early in the year before I had a chance to lose very much. I've never been embarrassed about the amount I've wasted on lottery tickets because almost every time I bought them there was others in the same line wasting as much or more on cigarettes and/or beer. I'm down a little bit - means losing $500 or more, sometimes much more

I'm just about even - losing between $50 and $500

I'm even - means losing between $5 and $50

I pretty much have the same answer as weshar75, except I began gambling in the early 70s. I am way down, but I don't want to add up the years! I still think my day is coming soon. I'm not even talking about a huge jackpot. $5 million will be just fine thank you

id say i've only spent about between 130-200 dollars in the last 4 years i started playing, just a week and a half ago I hit twice in a row once in 4-digit and once in 3-digit. #'s come to me easily, yet i always lost, why? becuz it is still a game, and in order to beat it you have to think 2-steps ahead of the game.

I play alot smarter then i have in my past, i streamline the money i spend based on good ol' gut feeling and past history of the numbers.

Just this morning I went through all of my tickets to see how much I have spent...especially since I haven't won anything. In 2004 I had spent close to $1000 without really winning that much. Last year was a bit better-I exercised some self-control. I wasn't too pleased with the outcome this morning though...it never seems that much when I hand over my $2 here, $6 here. For Pick 5.. lost more than I have won..

Pick 3.. depends on state.. GA.. most definitely won more than lost.

TN.. probably more lost than won.

KY.. won more..

MD.. about even..

CA.. Ahead..

Other states.. just play the warnings... and not sure how I am there..

Of course, I have definitely contributed more than I have gained. Over 14 years of playing various lotteries, I estimate I have spent close to $500; maybe $600.00. I have won-------$200 or so dollars. How about you
