LottoJet is right. You will find the tremendous support online for the .NET languages, particularly VB.NET, and to a slightly lesser degree, C#. There are other .NET flavors, but they are really just niche products, and there is a relatively small circle of developers working with them.

It's kind of like the database world, where people say that Oracle does indeed have a Windows version, but if you're running Windows Server, 95% of the people would get SQL Server.

I was a proficient Pascal programmer 10 years ago, but that knowledge has been lying dormant since then. I started learning webdesign and HTML-coding in 1998 and hasn't really programmed anything since.

I hope to get as proficient as I once was, perhaps with the help of Turbo Delphi.

Thanks for the tips, but since I am familiar with Borland, I will chose to use their compiler and IDE.

I woudl personally recommend the Microsoft .NET languages -- VB.NET and C#. Microsoft is giving away Visual Studio Express Edition for free, which even includes a free version of the SQL Server 2005 database. If someone is going to try to start programming, I would heartily recommend Visual Basic (VB.NET).

Hello!

MillionsWanted

Can you program on Pascal or Delphi for Windows?

There are free Pascal and Delphi programs for Windows programming, already.

Like Lazarus a Delphi clone.

I would like to make the programmers on this board aware of Borland's new programming tools.

For those who remember Borland's Turbo tools in the 80s and 90s this should be familiar.

Turbo Explorer - Borland

They will be giving away the programming languages for free later in the autumn/fall.

I've decided to try out Turbo Delphi. It's the closest thing to Turbo Pascal which I learnt to program in the early 90's.
