I tell close family and friends, but that's about all.

I was behind a lady in a convenience store recently. She was adamantly complaining to the clerk how these people waste their money buying Lottery tickets. There is a better of chance of getting struck by lightning than winning, the lady continued. Yes. It is a topic of conversation now, with friends and family. Goes something like this, Been playin' lately? Oh yeah, a couple weeks ago had a good run about $600.00 on Bonus Match 5 MD. but only little ones since; waiting on a big one since I started using my new analysis and prediction software. I don't tell everyone, but I don't try at all to keep it a secret either. I feel ok with playing the lottery (staying within a lottery budget) and if someone else doesn't like it that is there problem.

Although frankly, I don't think I would mention it in a job interview.

I used to go to a bar for lunch and to watch the midday drawing. Many people there would have the same attitude...( but what have you spent this year? ...the doubting Thomases).

They all shut up when they saw me go next door to cash my ticket and return with $290 cash to buy them all drinks on many occasions.

Now when I see them, the first question is How's the lottery treating you lately?

I'm a closet player. Some of my relatives consider all gambling to be evil and I fully expect that most of my friends would assume the sucker born every minute position if they knew. I honestly don't know one other person who plays, so I just keep quiet about it.

My family knows I play, but that's about it. I don't really discuss lottery topics outside this board. Because really, outside of Lottery Post nobody around me cares. Plus, I have no reason to really bring it up.

Funny you mention this.

I am job hunting, and on my website I had a link to my lottery numerical theories, but since part of finding a job also means showing folks

the kind of work I do, I have my website URL on my resume'.

Anyway, I yanked the lottery link off my home page so nobody can see it, but you can still get to it - if you know the exact URL.

People are funny - they will pitch in a whole $1 when the pot gets over 200 million, but if it's under that, they look... [ More ]

I dont discuss it much anymore, I used to but it was kind of that sucker born every minute look that I got. At the same time those were the same people that would ask what there cut would be if I did win.......

An interesting question would be How many people know that you are a member of the LP

I have found that you can't win by telling people about your lottery play. Either they think you are a nut or they want you to play the lottery for them and split the winnings. Really interesting. Keep your activities to yourself.

My family, especially my dad are in this game moderately to heavily. Not compulsive gambles, very strategic playing. when I tell very few trusted friends of what i do on the side they either

A. Don't really know what the lottery is

B. Only see it as people who hit are the lucky ones

C. Laugh when I tell them I actually foresee drawings be4 they happen

Interesting question.....I don't talk lottery much but I can't think of anyone that I mentioned it to where I got a negative reaction.

I don't think any of the conversations ever involved how much I would give someone, should I win big. Most of the conversations involved the jackpot games. No one I know plays pick3/pick4.

Hi, I am new here and I live in North Carolina. My family knows I play and some friends. My husband is the Doubting Thomas when it comes to playing the lottery. Now he does talk about what he would do if he won the lottery and all that......but has only played it twice. I am the one who plays and I have only missed 2 games since it started here. Ihave lost money true......but I have won some too. The most I won at 1 time so far was $500 on the Jun 28th draw (3 white balls/PB and power play X5

I have a small group of friends and family members that know I play because I constantly tell them I play and that they should try their luck on the lottery because they might win. They always talk about getting a handout and I tell them you will get one. $5 in an envelope and my favorite saying, don't spend that $5 all in one place because that is all you are going to get!!!!! .-weshar75

Yes, I am open about my lottery play with my friends and family. My co-workers don't know and I am keeping it that way in case I hit the jackpot I can continue to work and nobody would be the wiser.

Yes, but:

Don't go bragging that you hit $250 or $500 on a pick 3 number!

Then they'll ask how much you spent this year to get it.

You're best off to keep it to yourself, if you play to win the Jackpot Games and hit,

they will be the ones that will ask for some help with their finances.

You're best off to just play as you want to. Nobody needs to know your personal spendings on games etc.

Many people do "frown" on lottery play. Those are the people that personally give me

Sometimes. I talk around the subject to see how receptive they are. But for the most part everyone knows that I play and that I really don't care what they think. Most of the folk who do the judging don't contribute 1 thin dime towards my household.

If you don't like playing. Don't play. If you do, don't let anyone stop you from playing unless of course they are paying your bills.

You can't win it if you're not in it.

My manager plays also. From time to time she'll ask, whats a good number? She really shocked me oneday when she told me that she has run into another co-worker at the racetrack playing slots. I didn't know she went that far.

My immediate family knows that I play...In fact, the In laws are as bad( frequent to the point of no return !! ) as my wife and I with casino gambling and lottery playing...

My parents- no way..they are not now, nor have they ever been lottery players. Perhaps too religious, perhaps old fashioned beliefs, etc....

Co workers ? some know , some don't....

Are you open about playing the lottery or are you a closet player?

Sometimes I get a very negative reaction when I tell someone I buy lottery tickets. I once told a manager on a job interview that I am seeking a long term career where I can grow with the company and challenge myself blah, blah.
