Looking for relatives of Mrs Eileen Morton - the first lottery winner

NSW Lotteries is seeking to make contact with relatives of Mrs Eileen Morton, the winner of the very first lottery draw in 1931.

Mrs Morton appeared on a Cinesound newsreel in the 1950s with her two daughters, Rhonda and Pam.

As part of our 75th birthday celebrations we are also looking to speak to other early lottery winners.

NSW Lotteries celebrates 75th birthday

This Sunday (20 August 2006) marks the 75th anniversary of the first lottery draw on 20 August 1931, held to help raise funds for hospitals during the Great Depression.

Over the past 75 years NSW Lotteries has paid more than $13 billion in prizes to hundreds of thousands of lucky winners, and raised close to $7 billion to assist the NSW Government in funding important community infrastructure, such as schools, hospitals and roads.
