The only advantage I see to that strategy is that with separate tickets the IRS has no argument about when you decided to share the prize, so oyu each pay taxes on your share. The downside is that you're spending more money without increasing your potential winnings as much as you could. If I was going to spend two or three times as much on tickets I'd want to either increase my chances of winning by 2 or 3 times or increase my potential payout by at least 2 or 3 times. If you win and the powerp... [ More ]

I think multipliers are good if when you hit the prize level goes up.

But in my personal case if I wanted to split my jackpot win with other family members say a 3 way split I would purchase 3 exact sets of numbers ther by having 3 separate tickets.

Heres your ticket. cash it in.

Heres your ticket. Cash it in.

Heres my ticket to cash in.

No problems creating this or that or do we take annuity or cash.

Each of us can decide for ourself on what we want to do.

And also if there... [ More ]

When I play Powerball and MM I cover all possible mega/power balls but without Powerplay. Considering the cost and the long odds of winning I'd rather get another set of numbers than a multiplier.

If you play covering all Powerballs and Powerplay the odds of the state actually coughing up 41 million extra in cash would be very low.

Well, as you already know, since I am sure you looked, no. In all fairness, we only discussed Powerball.

The consensus was close, the arguments were you have a better chance at winning outright if you pick more games, so folks played more games. The other side of the argument was if you get 3x5, that paid $7, multiplied is $14, $21, $28 or $35.

I'm going to apologize, Jimmy, your question was 'are they a good deal ?'

That answer is yes.

My question on the other thread... [ More ]

Since you would be playing $2 for one set of numbers, the payout with the multiplier should always be higher than if you don't power-up. I've said that all lottery bets should have a payout of at least 50%.

I don't win often enough to justify the extra $1 for PowerPlay. Therefore, I play for all or nothing. Of course, if I hit the five white balls without the Powerball, and the PP multiplier came up 5, that would annoy me.

Powerplay for Powerball and Kicker for Oregon Megabucks are both good for the games. My reason for playing that option is that if I am going to spend more than $1 on a ticket then I should add the extra $1 to the first line I purchase. Their is only going to be one winning combination and you will not win the jackpot every time you play. So when you get a prize wouldn't you like to get the best prize available to you when you win.-weshar75
