Judging by the comments, Arkansas has three strikes (no career opportunities/money, gambling industry ties, and religious issues) against it and as result will not get a lottery any time soon. It also looks like most of the other states without a lottery excluding Alaska and Wyoming are in the same boat. My new picks will be Florida joins Powerball and then Porto Rico joins Powerball.

I do not know about any of the states left joining to have a lottery. I would like the florida lottery to offer a Multi-state game like Powerball or Mega millions to its players. So when I play those games the jackpots will grow larger.-weshar75

In Arkansas the horse and greyhound racing industry probably does not want a lottery coming into the picture.

I will take a guess and say Alabama will be the next state to join.

I am just glad we finally have it here in Oklahoma.

the casinos in mississippi will block the lottery from joining.they don't want to compete for gamblers dollars.

Mississippi. Was close in the vote last year. The Gulf Coast Casinoes were destroyed by Katrina and few have re-opened. Casinos have flourished in Mississippi In Natchez, Philadelphia, Vicksburg, and the Gulf Coast.

i would like to see arkansas get one.however i wonder if the greyhound and horse industry will keep it out.they wouldn't want to compete in that small state for gamblers dollars with the lottery......

In my opinion, the following states will get a lottery:

1. Arkansas - In 2000, 65% of Arkansas voters declined to establish a state lottery and permit casinos. However, February 2004 a poll indicated that 71% of those polled were opposed to paying more in income taxes to support public school and would rather have a lottery to support public school. November 2004, Question #1, the property tax increase for education, failed in Arkansas.
