Normally, (because I don't usually spend more than ten bucks) with these wide games from 1-55,1-56, I usually pick a 22 number set and an 18 (overdue) number set and then select 2 or 3 decade patterns that have some degree of repeatedness from the past 100 games and manually select from the pools to fit the patterns. I'll play 10 sets and I am happy if i get 3of5 on PB or MM. On the other hand, I have very good success with this method on the 1-35, 1-39 games just the day before yesterday on... [ More ]

Excellent question. Since there is 3-4 days betwist these large jackpot games and time permiting I would pick the 1000 combos myself. Could probably come up with 300-400 a day, slips filled out. I am not fond of the QP. jarasan

I'm thinking about using my lottery program to simulate playing 500 combinations for all future PB and MM drawings to see if it would be beneficial to have a different set of rules for picking 500 lines than picking 20-25 lines to play. That ways if a jackpot ever gets over $400M and I have $500 to spend on lottery tickets, it won't be totally uncharted territory. That kind of information might also be of interest to lottery pools playing for lesser amounts also.

While I haven't purchased $1000 in tickets I have purchased $350 or so when the jackpot hits the cap.

1. I only play my own numbers

2. I cover every powerball number (all 42) or mega number

3. Playing $1000 would get tough. Even checking 350 or so is a serious pain. It takes more time than you would think to fill out forms, check and verify the tickets. That's why I only play when the lottery gets big - too much work otherwise.

When I think about it there is no sensible reason for any one to buy 1000 QPs when there are many towns in PB/MM states with 30,000 people or more that probably purchase a thousand or more QP's when ever the jackpots are large and have never had a second place winner.

If I played 1000 MM/PB combinations I would prefer to play my own numbers, but it would be a lot easier to play 1000 QPs.

If I had to play? Almost sounds like someone giving me the money and demanding that I play, I have yet to experiece that. But if I wanted to play $1,000 tickets I would probably be tempted to play 500/500 of my own and qp's. It would be fun to compare results. But I would be more tempted to play all qp's simple due to past results. Also it would take quite some time to print those, and to check all the numbers. Not to mention how long it would take to fill 1,000 cards out.
