they took all the spinach off the shelves here in tennessee too.at least here in memphis they did.they did a report on the news that some people were irritated because they couldn't get any.

Yes, four4me, that's why juicing is not always healthful if people don't know what they're doing. Although rarely have I read that someone got sick from good, healthful food and most people don't usually get sick from eating fruits and vegetables. Somehow this spinach was contaminated.

yes you should wash most anything you get from the grocery store. except letuce it will go bad if you wash it.

i just read that spinach can make kidney stones in some people you may eat small portons of it but don't go overboard.

Lottery Lady, this is true. My in-laws were talking about it a couple months ago. Somehow E Coli bacteria is getting into the bags and they can't trace it the point of origin. Somehow the handling of the bags by the store personnel and/or shoppers is allowing this to happen. Maybe it's on the outside of the handled bags and the user doesn't wash his hands between the handling of the bag and the handling of the spinach. I know I never used to. Now I just go to Wendy's.

Yes, on the news here too. It's E. Coli . There are 1 dead and 20 sick here, but there are also 30 m ore sick in other states, as far from hjere at CT. So it's not just here in the midwest. I would advise anyone with bagged fresh spinach not to eat it. Better safe than sorry.

I live in Illinois and they just said to tell everyone not to eat

fresh baged spinach. Someone in Wisconsin just died.

And 20 sick. You will get flu like symptoms. A bacteria.
