I got an e-mail from the lottery, they say the estimated payout should be 52.15%, and in my book their word has a little more weight than mine.

I went back and subtracted the $2 winning from the free ticket prize, and lo and behold: Payout does go to around 48%. Still not bad for a draw game. Has potential.

State tends to change lotto type games every 2 years or so on the average, need it or not. So who knows what's in store?

True, the value of the free ticket probably could be counted as a win, but maybe should not be figured in cash payout. As was pointed out, the ticket isn't worth the $2 payout.

Also the State's retailer info page says that the jackpot should roll over every 5 draws on the average (please verify), so maybe $52,000 x 1/1,395,360 isn't a true % payout for that teir; 50% give or a take a little sounds more realistic. I found a couple of flaws with the calculation. One was the actual value of the free ticket, the other is with the jackpot. If the top prize was a flat $50,000, then the payout would only be about 48%. But of course the jackpot gets a little more than that.

So with the average jackpot in mind ($122,605), I calculated the average payout at 50%, slightly down from LFL's 51.5%.

That makes sense. I was figuring on retail value to the consumer, in other words, $2 one would NOT spend, and remain in pocket. For what it cost the state to produce a ticket, and deliver to the consumer, 42 cents sounds right. It would have to be cheaper for the state to make money, and of course, the State would.

Yeah, I noticed that woo, Lucky Larry. Not to worry if those repeated numbers (the game within the game) are drawn, then your chances of winningsw gets better. I'bve actually won with just 2 numbers with the repeats. I guy I used to work with, claimed he had 9 matches 2 on 1 line, 3 on another and 4 on another. Look at the payouts. Another thing. Yeah, I am. The only thing going for LFL was the chance of an instant prize. Given all that, the one in 12 hit rate wasn't so bad compared to powerball, but worse than the Win 4 Life scratch ticket at the same price. I think if the jackpot were progressive, and it rolled down when not hit, the State may have had a good game. Mix and Match has potential. Just like Match 6 was a big improvement over Super 6. Yes there is. My ommission. The odds of this would be the combinations of 5 taken 5 at a time [1], times 34 taken 0 at a time {1} divided by the combinations of 19 taken 5 at a time [11,628]. Total payout would then be those winners divided into the total nuber of tickets printed, (a permutation of 19 taken 5 at a time) [1,395,360] which equals [120]. Then times $2000. or $240,000 added to the totals. I'll go back and revise my spreadsheet.

This new game doesn't look appealing to me. If it uses computerized numbers, then I won't be buying it, and thus probably will drop buying PA games outright (the drive to play Cash 5 alone isn't worth it to me).

First, a few assumptions, that Jackpot is minimum of $50,000, and a free ticket is a $2 value. Then taking the odds furnished by the Lottery Bureau for each prize, I calculated total number of winners per prize, which I divided by number of possible tickets. That gave me the hit rate. I multiplied number of winners times prize for each winning combination, totaled and divided by total cost of all tickets which is $2 by total number of tickets.

Odds and totals are based on the PERMUTATION

According to my comps, 65%. Seems sort of high for a draw game, but the hit rate is 1 in 3.57, about the same for instant tickets. (Actually the instants have been creeping up in odds, now most over 4.) so maybe the state is weighing this against the average 35% or so of the average draw game.

I liked the MATCH 6 game when it first came out and I sometimes play it if the Powerball jackpot is low ... I like that it's a cash-only payout so you know what the actual jackpot is.

What I don't understand (and my one turn-off) is, how are the 2nd and 3rd lines really generated, being they are QP, but that it could put out a set of numbers where it's impossible to match more than 6 numbers on the entire ticket. Confusing for you, more fun for me. I like my games complex, although simple games are good too.

When it finally comes out, here's a tip. Mark your exact order matches with a square, and mark out-of-order matches with a circle. Simply count up the total marks to determine your mix prize, and the squares alone to determine your match prize.

Agree, it is sort of confusing. Yet that a lot of people will be jamming the lines at the stores with asking wheather 1 or 2 numbers wins. Match 6 isn't that confusing. Once 4 numbers are cirlced anywhere, it's a winner. Still takes 3 on a line. Mand M will require not only matching numbers, but matching places. By default, Mix Match will be a HUGE inprovement over UNlucky for Life. However, I think the game will be more confusing than Match 6, and eventually be replaced by a classic lotto game.

I did find some info on Payouts on the new $2 Mix and match game.

The Match

all 5 in order wins jackpot; starting at $50,000 and progressing.

4 in order pays $1,000

3 in order pays $100

2 in order pays $4

1 in order gets a free ticket.

The MIx

All 5 not in order pays $2000

Any 4 anywhere pays $20

Any 3 anywhere pays $2.

As in match six, these two ways can be added together. There are 17 different ways to win. Since there is only a total of 19

okay I read the quick re-cap from the PA Lottery website. Its cause for concern that it will hit based on the precision one must lay out there numbers. Its way more difficult then need be. Yet the Lottery is there to gain revenue and not lose it. Its a shame that its starting at such a low cash value of 50k.

I wonder how this will effect people using RNG's to select their picks? Being that RNG's usually select in order from lowest to highest. I think I have only found one that selects them out of that order. Maybe some will keep using them, and just arrange the numbers themselves.

due to computer problems, and the Web Marshall I strayed away. but had to see what was happening expecialy with the Mix and Match. When I last left, Match 6 was just getting started. It seemed that Ohio was deciding a new game, which would have been like Match 6, or a straight pick six lotto game with better odds and hit rates. Turned out they coame up with something really different, a bingo type game where order does matter. Go figure.

Yes I know, I was speaking in general not exactly $100,000. But usually that, or darn close to it. Either way it doesn't get my money unless it is over a million which is rarely. Even then I am reluctant to play due to the higher chances of sharing it because of a lot more players.

Wrong again CashOnly, 19. Would have preferred 10 or 11 though. If it is $2.00 again that will suck. Another game that I will not be playing unless it rolls to a million or more. The odds are still pretty bad, and the jackpot prize is too. People will be fooled by the seemingly low number selection. I like the idea, but I do not like the jackpot, or the price. A few things:

1. CASH Only: You should be very happy. It's replacing Lucky For Life Lotto.

2. If you look in the Retailer Corner or the PA Lottery website, you can see the game details, but it's gonna be a stinker.

3. It's a pick 5 of 19 (That's right) game where if you match a number in the exact place, you're good, and if you match 3 or more on the same line, you're good. the jackpot starts at $50,000 and rolls. Drawings will be in Mondays and Wednesdays.

I been hearing that for about a year now. I think your disdain is actually making more winners which is kind of funny. Why anyone would be upset about multiple wins is beyond logic and quite idiotic. I might play the next raffle though, but I skipped the last one. Just wasn't as appealing to me. The payout was probably $750,000 after taxes or less, my mininum is a million as far as cash goes.

Lotto Strike is an add-on game, like Ohio's Kicker (LS can be played only with Lotto.)

Note that in Australia, while lottery prizes are tax-free, the price of playing does not include the agent's commission. Also, all such amounts are rounded to 5c, as Australia no longer uses 1c or 2c coins.

Sounds interesting. I like new and unique ideas, but the odds are still going to be pretty enormous even with smaller ball sets. But should be fun anyway. I will have to try it for awhile to find out. I just hope they drop the $2.00 price tag. I don't mind annuities, depending on the amount. I will only go for cash options over million, preferably $2 million.

I'm guessing it will be an annuitized game with a cash option. I'm seeing a game with only 11 (or even 10) numbers, in which you have to guess the EXACT order of all the numbers. It would therefore be somewhat similar to Little 3 and Big 4.

That's what I've been told by the lottery. This worries me a lot, because Mix and Match is also the name of Indiana's Match 6-style game. And if it's played like Match 6, that could also mean the game being replaced is Match 6.

This would be terrible, because I love Match 6. It would also be terrible for Lottery Post because we'd have CO complaining about Lucky For Life twice as often as usual. Let's all hope that Match 6 is here in January people.
