I would give to religious group.medical research. animal right.org abused children, literacy program hometown community projects, and i would build and place for batter woman and there children.

If I won a large lottery pot, gifts to needy relatives and friends and charitable giving would be the main uses of the money, as I'd only want to increase my own standard of living modestly. Several of my relatives are disabled, and helping them would come first. Then, depending upon the size of the pot, would come donations for

new fire station for my small town

local library

world relief projects through my church

local Progressive Animal Welfare group

First no matter what I won I would pay tithes, then I would donate to various charities, American Cancer Society, Abused Elderly and children organizations, Homeless Shelters, Autism Foundation to name a few. the reason I named these is because I already donate to these causes, it's not much but every little bit helps, so I know when I hit the big one, they will really get a serious increase in funds from my family.

Contributions to: Medical research, and peace studies. Folks have such a hard time resolving conflicts in a fair fashion which often leads to medical injuries...So put em together and see if we can find a cure for the hatred and distain that runs deep amongst humans.

When the Bush adminstration gave huge tax cuts to the top income earners of the country, and told the rest of us the extra income the weathy will enjoy because of the tax breaks would trickle down and benefit the rest of us.

The little trickle I felt this term were thorns from the Bush. You mean these were suppose to be good thorns. Maybe the top earners got the Roses... Who knows... ? I haven't felt like it has benefitted me with the prickle trickle..

That's actually a good idea JAP69. I know at first it doesn't sound like a charity but teaching others how to take care of themselves might keep them from needing it one day. What's that expression... it's about giving someone a fish and he'll eat for a day, give him a fishing pole and teach him how to fish and he'll eat for a lifetime.

Something needs to be done with our youths now.

It is amazing how they live only for today and not take in consideration that they may need a buck for tomorrow.

I know most of this begins at home, (spoiled), (Guilty as charged).

When tough love sets in , these children are in for a rude-awakening.

So many 21 year olds don't understand why they have to make their car payment to keep the car.. We hear it all the time.

I would start something different if I won millions.

It would be financial management classes at different areas around the country.

This would be primarily for weekly wage earners.

How to stretch the dollar without going into financial debt.

Credit interest eats up many paychecks.

I remember seeing a list during Katrina. Some Red Cross employees had embezzled donations and people were afraid to send money for food. I wanted to make sure the food went into the mouths of the children. One site is http://www.charitynavigator.org/ I have no idea how reliable it is however.

A charity with the lowest administrative costs....somewhere on the net there's a kind of consumer group of charities that provides that kind of information.

Salvation Army rates very well from what I remember of their list.

I like to give to the disabled Veterans.

here lately we have been getting calls from the A to Z list of organizations asking for donations.

I don't mind donating a few bucks now and then but these people can be relentless calling every day even when you just gave a week or so ago.

Yesterday a newborn was found in a garbage bag in Boston cold and hungry in critical condition. If I hadn't checked hometown community projects above, I probably would have checked abused children. Nancy Grace was speaking to people at the safe havens where women can drop off (as if we're talking about a package) their babies - no questions asked. I am trying to picture finding an infant in a garbage bag in an alley and I can't even imagine the horror. So there's another good cause.... [ More ]

First, it would depend on the amount I win. I am saying that because one choice here isn't family. I would definitely want to give a portion of my winnings to charity, but I would want to help others I know first.

I would want to be a hands on contributor, since organizations to which I've contributed in the past have disappointed me when I learned funds were misappropriated. I don't need (or want) my name on a building, but starting a foundation where most of the money gets to the people... [ More ]
