Actually, In Maryland state (not the District, as the area has three seperate Lottos--MD, DC and VA) you can play  pairs.<br /><br />So say you want to play 456, you can play the whole number and you can also put, like $.50/$1.00 on either  45  or  56 , banking that it will come in that pair.  You can win a $50 max with the dollar play.  Go to their website.
