I think that was really smart. Firefox is the best plan for people running Windows 98 or ME, because Internet Explorer on both of those operating systems is just plain buggy and weak. Firefox, on the other hand, is very good on all platforms, which is its strength.

Firefox is also a fairly lightweight browser, so it won't bog down your system.

Just so there's no confusion, these are the proper instructions for adding cut/copy/paste to Firefox.

As Excalibur had mentioned, Windows 98 and ME users will need to save the file in the path starting with C:\Windows\... rather than C:\Documents and Settings\[UserName]\... , because Windows 98 and ME are single-user operating systems, and all your settings are stored in the Windows folder, rather than a Documents and Settings folder.

No, don't advise people to do that. Everyone will have a different path name at the end, which is why I included instructions the way I did. You are the only one with the path 5uydmpd3.default . It's easy to find using Windows Explorer, as I had mentioned.

Those who have Win98SE will save that file there:

C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\5uydmpd3.default

Copy and paste that on the address bar of windows explorer and press enter, it will take you to where you should paste the new file that you will make as shown by Todd.

After you copy the new file there you might have to either restart the browser or close it first and then re-start it.

Or to copy and paste you can just use the EDIT box on the top Lth of the browser and Click on it and on its menu go down to copy and or paste and click on each in their turn as you use them.

Because the copy and paste from the Rth click menu on the mouse will not work unless you follow those instructions posted by Todd.

The copy and paste from the browser's edit menu works just fine, no problems with it at all.

Yes, same with Netscape which was also designed by Mozilla. I wonder why? I like Firefox and I really prefer Netscape except for that very big flaw.

EDIT: I give up. I have Netscape 8.1 Where are the settings so I can copy paste? I can't find them.

I'm posting this with Netscape right now. Not only is there no pause, it feels at least as quick as standard IE7.

At the bottom I am seeing an amazing, This page was generated in 0.0000 seconds , which means it generated so fast that the internal clock on the server did not increment.

I tried rendering with both the IE and Gecko rendering engines in Netscape (a nice feature), and it worked both ways just fine.

Both of those browsers should render the pages about the same as the other, because they both use the Gecko rendering engine underneath.

For anybody who might be interested, K-Meleon also seems to work very well with the Rich Text Editor

It appears to be a very good browser, download and use both: FireFox and K-Meleon, to see which of them you like best, as both are just very fast and great.

No time lag on anything.

I screwed something up for a minute, which is why you saw the error. I guess I'm just trying to prove I'm human every day.

I have been having very good luck with the new way of updating. The updates are happening with no pausing or other problems (minus my self-inflicted glitch).

Only now FireFox and K-Meleon work OK for me here at LP.

Also, Windows ME is perhaps even worse than Windows 98. Windows ME was the absolute worst operating system Microsoft ever produced, which is why it had such a short lifespan.

Ah, very good point. I always forget to ask, which operating system are you using , even though it's extremely important.

Anyone still using Windows 98 should get off it ASAP, as it's not even supported by Microsoft anymore, and Lottery Post therefore does not support it.

As I had mentioned above, Firefox can do copy and paste. You need to adjust your settings.

If you are having trouble with IE, it is because you have software that is blocking something. IE works perfectly with Lottery Post.

Opera is a little weird and slower it seems like, an older version of it could not handle the rich text editor, but this newer version can PARTIALY use it, it is very slow and unresponsive.

IE still has problems with the rich text editor.

At least Opera can copy and paste OK.

Opera is a no go for LP.

So far K-MELEON is still best.

Next some other.

This browser has a weird effect on the LP'srich's text editor, it only partialy works and not quite right. It is opera 9.02.

To clear you AOL cache and history and blocked pop ups

if you use the standard tool bar.

on your toolbar click settings, click Internet (web options) click Clear My Footprints click Select Footprints to Clear...... there are five check boxes

Browser history .....Click this one

Cookies caution clicking this one it will remove all your stored passwords and screen names

Browser cache ........click this one

Blocked Pop-up List .....click this one

I think it has to do with some browsers have trouble with compression protocols, and most of the time it is caused by a firewall that is blocking it.

I changed the new editor's compression settings to match the old one's, so I'm hoping that helps.

For a few minutes I re-enabled many of the IE settings, including the Java machine, but that didn't help any, so I changed them all back to my "Normal" settings.

Maybe another browser might work a little better, not FireFox 'cause there is no copy and paste on it and I use that feature very heavily, Can Firefox be forced to copy and paste?

Maybe I should try Opera.

This white box does not now show, unless I first disable the rich text editor on board settings.

it used to show just last night or very early today.

I am using IE 6, the last (OLd) update of it for Win98SE.

The internet options settings that I have on it, have not been changed since my last post, yet the input pad box for the rich text editor does not come on no more.

My IE settings are set for IE high security, "ACTIVE SCRIPTING" is the only setting enabled, all others are dis... [ More ]

You had to clear your cache because I had re-installed the whole site, as I had mentioned in my initial posting above. I cimpleted the install a few minutes before posting the message.

I didn't know AOL had a feature like that, it sounds very good, especially considering their overly-aggressive caching. It sounds like a tip that could be useful for other AOL users here.

PM's are working for me now. Thank's i had cleared my cache last night and only been online for about 10 minutes when i came into lottery post opened the pm and tried to reply. I usually clear my cache several times every day. Aol has a feature where you can do a history and cache and pop up blocker cleaner with one click.

After i did clear the cache etc the pm worked fine but there shouldn't have been a reason too since i hadn't been doing any surfing. there couldn't have been more than 5 t... [ More ]

The only bug that I witness occuring is a time-out when accessing the site or refreshing. I also notice this during the early morning and sometimes, mid-morning. Sometimes, a quick refresh will bring me back to the site. Other times, it may go on for hours. This is usually occuring on the weekdays and not as much on the weekends.

I basically spent all weekend completely re-doing the way I deploy changes to the Lottery Post web site, so that when I make changes it does not do that long pause that has been annoying several of you.

From a technical perspective, what was happening was that every time I would push some new functionality to the site, the web server would re-compile the site, which is why you may see that (approximately) 20-second pause that happens from time-to-time.
