Granted, the Showme5 game siphons for air. And it was especially hard to go from a matrix of 1/30 to 1/44 with such a dismal jackpot payout but we have decent lower tiered prizes. I mean, $25 bucks for 3 numbers, not to shabby...

This is from the Missouri Lottery e-mail letter that they send out, ironically this was the question for yesterday's edition:

When did SHOW ME 5 change to SHOW ME 5 Paydown?

I don't know but i don't think Missouri's pick5 (showme5) has more than 4 years in existence with the 1-44 matrix..otherwise i would have known about it (i don't know it could be longer, i am just saying)...

Missouri's Showme 5 has been a matrix of 1 to 44 for many years, so it is doubtful if there is any testing going on for any other state's consideration of changing.

When the Show Me 5 went to the Show Me Five Paydown, the jackpot increased from $25,000 tax paid to $50,000 tax paid.

That's what most people look at, and the lotteries know this.

A lot of people were anxious for Californai to come into the Mega Millions, newspaper aerticles talked of $500,000,000 potential jackpots....but no one thought about the expanded matrix that came with that until it was too late.

Guys, whose idea was to increase the matrix of a pick5 game from 1 to 44, the way Missouri's Showme5paydown is?Like 1 to 39 wasn't hard enough already...I mean 1 to 35 is hard, 1 to 39 is superhard and now 1 to 44? What are/were they thinking? and what's worse, it plays twice a day making it a real sucker for the state and paying a measly 50,000 dollars...If the game had cost 25 cents, then i MAY not complain that much....
